Presently, Swiss contact is managing an extensive range of initiatives covering sectors such as agribusiness, eye health, digital literacy, green economy skills, and e-mobility entrepreneurship, including the Propel program, which is dedicated to enhancing youth employability, fostering entrepreneurship, and providing specialized training in electrical, plumbing, and lift mechanics trades.

General Position Summary

The Project Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing the Future Fit Project by facilitating the successful execution of key initiatives in digital skills, green skills—particularly in electromobility—youth entrepreneurship, and employment creation. This position will deliver operational, logistical, and technical assistance to guarantee that project deliverables are completed punctually, adhere to specified parameters, and comply with the stipulations of donors, partners, and the organization’s policies.

This role demands a self-driven, analytical professional with a strong entrepreneurial mindset and meticulous attention to detail. The successful applicant will adeptly manage project support alongside various administrative responsibilities.

This position is located in Nairobi, Kenya, with an estimated 30% travel requirement to various field sites.

Oversee and execute critical job duties including managing daily operations, coordinating team activities, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, and maintaining accurate records. Address and resolve operational challenges promptly while fostering a collaborative work environment. Monitor performance metrics to drive efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives and optimize workflows. Facilitate the ongoing execution of project initiatives in digital skills and green/e-mobility domains, ensuring they remain aligned with overarching strategic goals.

Collaborate with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, private sector partners, and financial institutions to facilitate the alignment of project activities.

Provide support in the preparation, coordination, and logistics of training initiatives, workshops, apprenticeship programs, curriculum development activities, and stakeholder engagement sessions.

Ensure that all action points generated from meetings and field activities receive prompt and thorough follow-up.

Assist in the formulation of project concepts, intervention strategies, and reporting mechanisms.

Integrate sustainability and market systems development principles into all project activities to ensure cohesive implementation.

Assist collaborators with the development of operational strategies, the implementation of quality control measures, and the evaluation of program effectiveness.

We oversee and assess performance metrics to ensure project objectives are met efficiently. This involves systematically collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to evaluate progress, identify trends, and measure impact. Key responsibilities include developing evaluation frameworks, designing data collection tools, and reporting findings to stakeholders. Applicants must possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management software, and the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights. Experience in similar roles within the development or corporate sector is highly preferred.

Work collaboratively with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist to design monitoring tools and measure impact outcomes.

Monitor regular tracking of project activities, deliverables, and performance metrics in strict accordance with the established Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework.

Facilitate the systematic gathering, structuring, and verification of both quantitative and qualitative data from partners, service providers, and beneficiaries.

Compile data and information required for project reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.

Document lessons learned, success narratives, and effective approaches derived from implementation efforts.

Stakeholder management involves building and maintaining strong relationships with key individuals or groups who impact or are impacted by a project, initiative, or organization. It requires effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration to align interests, address concerns, and ensure buy-in from all relevant parties. This role demands strong interpersonal skills, the ability to influence without authority, and a proactive approach to resolving conflicts. Collaborate with private sector stakeholders—including e-mobility enterprises, technology-driven organizations, and financial institutions—to facilitate the development of apprenticeship programs, the implementation of innovative training frameworks, and the creation of sustainable pathways for youth employment.

Collaborate effectively with key ecosystem stakeholders, including industry associations and innovation partners, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of efforts.

Cultivate and sustain robust partnerships with key project stakeholders, such as government entities, private sector collaborators, non-governmental organizations, and community-based groups.

Facilitate seamless communication and foster collaborative efforts among project partners to ensure alignment and shared understanding throughout the initiative.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A minimum of five years of professional experience in software development, with expertise in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or C#, is necessary. Familiarity with agile methodologies and proficiency in database management are also essential. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and possess excellent communication skills.

A bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Education, Economics, Business, Engineering, ICT, or an equivalent discipline is required.

Possesses a solid understanding of donor-funded initiatives and methodologies centered on results-based project management.

Professional experience of two to three years is required, preferably in supporting development projects, NGOs, or private sector initiatives focused on youth employment, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET), digital skills, green skills, or entrepreneurship programs.

Analytical strength, organizational prowess, and the ability to multitask are essential to effectively manage and prioritize project responsibilities.

Desirable candidates will possess prior experience collaborating with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, private sector stakeholders, or youth-oriented programs.

Professional certification in project management or monitoring and evaluation is highly beneficial.
