The Opportunity

Plan International seeks a seasoned and driven Deployable Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Gender in Emergencies Specialist to strengthen our global Core Surge Team.

In this position, you will respond swiftly to global humanitarian crises, frequently within 72 hours, to deliver technical expertise and uphold gender equality, inclusion, and protection from gender-based violence as core components of our emergency interventions.

You will be positioned at the core of crisis response efforts, providing assistance to country teams in implementing high-caliber, gender-transformative initiatives that address the requirements of girls, young people, and vulnerable communities.

What You’ll Be Doing

Provides strategic technical leadership and oversees program execution, ensuring adherence to objectives, timelines, and quality standards while guiding cross-functional teams toward successful delivery.

Oversee and enhance gender-based violence (GBV) initiatives, with a distinct focus on supporting child and adolescent survivors.

Promote the integration of gender considerations into all humanitarian initiatives to ensure comprehensive and inclusive program development.

Offer specialized advice in strict accordance with internationally recognized frameworks, including the IAS guidelines, GBV Minimum Standards, Sphere standards, and SEA principles.

Conduct thorough analysis and deliver prompt emergency response to address critical situations. Assess data, identify risks, and implement strategic solutions to mitigate potential threats. Respond to incidents with urgency, ensuring swift action to minimize impact and restore normal operations. Maintain a high level of vigilance to detect anomalies and prepare contingency plans for various scenarios.

Perform Rapid Gender Analysis (RGA) assessments to evaluate and address gender-specific needs during acute emergencies.

Assist in conducting comprehensive needs assessments across various sectors to identify critical gaps and priorities.

Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on the development and implementation of gender-responsive programming initiatives.

About You

We seek a dedicated professional who possesses the following qualifications and expertise.

Experienced professionals with substantial backgrounds in gender-based violence (GBV) initiatives, particularly those focused on child protection, within humanitarian settings, are sought for this role.

Professionals specializing in this role must demonstrate a deep proficiency in gender analysis and effectively tackle systemic inequalities, particularly in emergency contexts.

Candidates should possess a proven track record of collaborating with United Nations agencies, international non-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, or other inter-agency frameworks.

Demonstrated expertise in fostering cluster coordination and facilitating effective inter-agency collaboration is required.

Proven expertise in developing and enhancing organizational capabilities while guiding and coaching teams to achieve their full potential.

Analytical prowess, exceptional written and oral communication abilities, and a high degree of proficiency in crafting clear and impactful written content are essential.

Proven capability to operate autonomously amidst demanding and multifaceted conditions with unwavering composure.

Fluency in English is essential, and professional proficiency in French is required; additional working knowledge of Spanish or Arabic would be considered an advantage.
