The Manager will spearhead the agribusiness division, advancing the bank’s vision of fostering sustainable agricultural growth throughout Kenya. This position entails overseeing a varied portfolio comprising smallholder farmers, dairy cooperatives, Arises, and climate-smart agriculture initiatives. The role demands strategic leadership, product innovation, risk mitigation, and stakeholder collaboration to amplify the bank’s influence in the agricultural sector.

Oversee and execute a range of critical responsibilities designed to support organizational objectives, including the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, management of cross-functional projects, and fostering collaboration across departments to drive efficiency and innovation. Analyze performance metrics, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to senior leadership to inform data-driven decision-making. Lead and mentor a team of professionals, ensuring alignment with company goals while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Act as a liaison between executive leadership and operational teams to facilitate seamless communication and alignment of priorities. Additionally, identify emerging trends, assess risks, and recommend solutions to optimize business processes and enhance overall productivity.

Portfolio Management: Responsible for the strategic oversight of a varied agribusiness portfolio encompassing dairy, horticulture, livestock, and agricultural renewable energy initiatives.

Drive sustainable financing initiatives by spearheading the delivery of accessible credit solutions to agribusinesses, with an emphasis on bolstering climate resilience and promoting environmentally responsible practices.

Develop and nurture key strategic alliances with various development organizations to drive collaborative growth and mutual success.

Government entities and private-sector collaborators work in tandem to advance shared objectives and safeguard collective interests.

Lead the creation of customized financial solutions designed to meet the specific demands of agribusiness enterprises.

Develop and execute comprehensive risk assessment frameworks to maintain portfolio integrity and adherence to environmental and social compliance standards.

Provide strategic direction and guidance to cultivate a high-performing agribusiness team, driving excellence and innovation through mentorship and professional development initiatives.

Market Intelligence: Track and analyze evolving industry trends, regulatory shifts, and technological innovations to guide strategic decision-making processes.

Seeking candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience. The ideal applicant will demonstrate at least three years of hands-on experience in a related industry, along with proficiency in essential software and tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

A bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, finance, or a closely related discipline is required.

A master’s degree is highly beneficial.

Professional Experience: A minimum of a decade in banking or financial services is required, including at least five years dedicated to agribusiness financing or closely related fields.

Sector Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of agricultural value chains, climate-smart agricultural practices, and rural financial systems is essential.

Demonstrates a strong history of successfully directing teams and overseeing multifaceted project initiatives across various departments.
