Job Description
AMI seeks a driven and skilled Financial Inclusion and Fintech Expert (Consultant) to create practical, user-friendly, and impactful learning tools and resources tailored to young women entrepreneurs in Kenya. The role will focus on equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to navigate and leverage available financial and fintech solutions effectively.
Responsibilities
Develop the Fintech Knowledge Layer by assuming full responsibility for establishing the foundational fintech understanding within the Digitize program.
Design educational resources focused on the fundamentals of finance access, responsible borrowing practices, loan thresholds, repayment schedules, and sustainable funding solutions.
Perform thorough market scans to identify and analyze fintech solutions and financial service providers in Kenya that cater specifically to agri-food micro-enterprises.
Map & Profile Providers: Develop a comprehensive directory of credible financial institutions and fintech partners that align with the needs of program participants.
Establish well-defined selection criteria to evaluate fintech solutions, ensuring they align with the financial circumstances of young women entrepreneurs operating within the agriculture value chain.
Engage in direct, collaborative dialogues with fintech providers to gain comprehensive understanding of their products, assessing both usability and eligibility criteria.
Develop a meticulously curated and intuitive directory of pertinent financial products and services to enhance user accessibility.
Prepare a safeguarding advisory memo that outlines potential risks, guidelines for responsible usage, and key warning indicators associated with predatory lending practices.
Guarantee gender responsiveness in all completed deliverables, ensuring they are practical and easily accessible for entrepreneurs with limited financial or digital literacy.
Synthesize learning content by collaborating with the team to produce a self-contained, user-friendly e-booklet that highlights fintech profiles and offers guidance on responsible borrowing.
Requirements
Seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of Kenya’s digital financial services and fintech landscape, paired with a demonstrated ability to operate effectively within the MSME sector.
Experienced in developing functional toolkits, e-books, or educational learning materials specifically tailored for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
Proven expertise in conducting thorough research and analysis, with the capacity to independently develop profiles, create comprehensive mappings, and assess financial products and services.
Skilled in distilling intricate financial terminology into straightforward, engaging, and practical insights tailored for audiences without a financial background.
Skilled in creating targeted training or learning materials for MSMEs, with a keen awareness of the unique operational hurdles faced by micro-enterprise owners.
Proficient in gender-responsive programming or initiatives focused on women’s economic empowerment (WEE) is required.
Having prior experience or a comprehensive grasp of agribusiness or agri-food value chains within Kenya would be particularly beneficial.
Experience in donor-funded or development-focused initiatives within the financial inclusion sector will be considered an asset.
