SHOCK seeks a community-focused professional to deliver essential wraparound support, empowering Kenya’s most vulnerable girls to enroll, attend, and thrive in school. The Scholarship Coordinator will oversee and manage SHOCK’s scholarship program, facilitating re-enrollment efforts across five priority counties while serving as on-the-ground support for beneficiaries. This role will act as a vital link between SHOCK, schools, scholars, and families, fostering strong, authentic connections to identify and comprehensively support scholarship recipients. Embedded within SHOCK’s SUN approach to community organizing, the position will ensure grassroots-driven identification and support for scholars remain central to the program’s success.

Develop and maintain robust partnerships with key stakeholders within the scholar support network to foster collaboration and alignment.
Collaborate with SUN Committees to partner with public school leadership, including principals and bursars, to facilitate seamless and effective onboarding processes while ensuring ongoing support for scholarship recipients.
Collaborate with the SUN and Gender department to identify eligible students for assistance.
Partner with the Scholarship Officer, SUN facilitators, and Gender team to facilitate mentorship initiatives and school holiday programs, with a key responsibility for overseeing logistics planning.
Serve as a liaison between families and the school community, empowering them to enhance their ability to support scholars’ academic progress and holistic development by clearly communicating their essential role in the mentorship process.
Develop and nurture meaningful collaborations with community-based organizations and governmental bodies that assist at-risk young women—particularly teen mothers—to establish and strengthen alliances aimed at enrolling and sustaining scholars in the program.
Lead the oversight and implementation of Case Management initiatives while prioritizing the welfare and wellbeing of scholars.
Develop and oversee scholar welfare and wellbeing initiatives, providing mentorship and support to scholarship recipients as needed.
Continuously interact with parents or guardians and beneficiaries to verify that students remain enrolled in school and are apprised of any developments; promptly elevate any concerns to the Scholarship Officer for resolution.
Assess and promptly highlight students who may be at risk of discontinuing their education or those requiring psychosocial assistance.
We welcome new scholarship recipients and their families to schedule meetings where we facilitate their integration into the scholarship program, clarify policies, and prepare them for the upcoming academic term.
Collaborate closely with SUN committees to advance community ownership and accountability in all related initiatives.
Escalate any cases requiring further attention to the Gender team for review and resolution.
We oversee data management and provide support for monitoring, evaluation, and learning initiatives to ensure accurate tracking of progress, timely identification of challenges, and informed decision-making based on reliable data insights.
Oversee the recruitment pipeline by systematically gathering and organizing data from diverse sources in a streamlined format.
Perform comprehensive data audits and ensure scholar records remain current and accurate at all times.
Scholars must submit all required documentation promptly to maintain uninterrupted support.
Gather and compile all required data by conducting visits to both residential and educational facilities.
Organize and schedule in-home visits for scholars to ensure personalized engagement and support.
Maintain an accurate and current Scholarship Database to ensure all information remains reliable and accessible for stakeholders.
