At present, Swiss contact is executing a broad range of projects across key sectors such as Agribusiness, Eye Healthcare, Digital Skills, Green Skills, and E-Mobility entrepreneurship. One prominent initiative within this portfolio is Propel, which is dedicated to enhancing youth skills development, employability, and entrepreneurship specifically in the trades of electrical, plumbing, and lift mechanics.

General Position Summary

The Project Officer will play a key role in advancing the Future Fit Project by facilitating the successful execution of high-caliber initiatives spanning digital skills, green skills—particularly in e-mobility—youth entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities. This position will deliver essential operational, coordination, and technical assistance to guarantee that project deliverables are met punctually, remain within defined parameters, and fully comply with the standards set by donors, partners, and the organization.

This role seeks an individual who demonstrates proactive problem-solving skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, coupled with meticulous attention to detail. The successful applicant must adeptly manage concurrent responsibilities, seamlessly integrating project support with administrative duties.

This position is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and requires regular travel to field locations, accounting for up to 30% of the time.

Essential Job Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled professional to oversee the execution of our project implementation strategy. This role requires a proven track record in managing end-to-end project delivery, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and timelines. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the capacity to coordinate cross-functional teams effectively. Responsibilities include developing detailed project plans, monitoring progress, mitigating risks, and delivering high-quality outcomes within budget and scope. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies is essential, along with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in project implementation is required.

Support the daily execution of project activities within digital skills and green/e-mobility skills domains, ensuring alignment with established strategic objectives.

Collaborate with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, private sector partners, and financial institutions to help streamline and oversee project activities.

Assist with the planning, scheduling, and coordination of training programs, workshops, apprenticeships, curriculum development sessions, and stakeholder meetings.

Ensure all action points generated from meetings and field activities receive prompt follow-up.

You will play a key role in shaping project concepts, formulating intervention strategies, and preparing comprehensive reports.

Integrate sustainability and market systems development principles comprehensively throughout all project activities to ensure alignment and effectiveness.

Collaborate with partners to develop operational plans, ensure quality assurance, and conduct impact assessments.

Responsible for overseeing and tracking program performance, this role ensures data accuracy and timely reporting assessing project effectiveness. Collects, analyzes, and interprets quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, measure outcomes, and evaluate impact. Develops and implements monitoring frameworks, tools, and methodologies to strengthen measurement systems. Prepares comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate feedback and improve data-driven decision-making. Maintains compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Partner with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist to design and implement monitoring tools and systematically measure impact outcomes.

Facilitate ongoing oversight of project activities, outputs, and indicators in accordance with the established Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework.

Support the gathering, compilation, and verification of both quantitative and qualitative data from collaborators, service providers, and program participants.

Compile data inputs for project reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.

Document and compile learning outcomes, success narratives, and best practices derived from implementation efforts.

Effective stakeholder management involves identifying, engaging, and maintaining strong relationships with individuals or groups who have a vested interest in the organization’s success. This role requires the ability to assess stakeholder needs, communicate clearly, and align expectations to ensure mutual understanding and collaboration. Responsibilities include developing tailored engagement strategies, facilitating open dialogue, and addressing concerns promptly to mitigate risks. Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and the capacity to influence without authority are essential for navigating diverse stakeholder dynamics and fostering productive partnerships.

Engage collaboratively with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, their trainers, and administrative staff to advance curriculum modernization and implement blended learning strategies effectively.

Collaborate with stakeholders from the private sector—including e-mobility companies, technology firms, and financial institutions—to facilitate apprenticeships, test innovative training methodologies, and develop pathways that enhance youth employment opportunities.

Facilitate collaboration among key ecosystem stakeholders, including industry associations and innovation partners.

Cultivate and sustain robust partnerships with key project stakeholders, such as governmental bodies, private sector collaborators, non-governmental organizations, and community-based groups.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project partners to ensure alignment and shared objectives.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or business administration, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Familiarity with industry-standard tools, software, or methodologies is required, and candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Additionally, proficiency in project management and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams are essential. Previous experience in a leadership or mentorship capacity is preferred but not mandatory.

A bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Education, Economics, Business, Engineering, ICT, or a closely related discipline is required.

Possesses a solid understanding of donor-funded initiatives and results-based project management methodologies.

With a minimum of two to three years of hands-on experience, you will have contributed to development projects, NGOs, or private sector initiatives focused on enhancing youth employment, technical and vocational education and training (VET), digital skills, green skills, or entrepreneurship programs.

Analytical strength, organizational capability, and the ability to multitask are essential for effectively managing competing project demands.

Experience collaborating with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions, private sector collaborators, or youth-centric programs is strongly preferred.

Professional certification in project management or monitoring and evaluation is highly beneficial.

Demonstrated proficiency in strategic planning, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving is essential, alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and drive team success.
