JOB SUMMARY

The Africa Communications Assistant will contribute to advancing Habitat’s narrative across the continent, ensuring alignment with organizational communications standards and brand guidelines, while collaborating closely with key internal stakeholders. This position will deliver communications support for partnerships, advocacy initiatives, and regional programs. Additionally, the role will partner with country office communications representatives to execute communications plans and materials effectively.

The Assistant will work in close partnership with colleagues at the Africa Area Office and the global communications team. In this capacity, the role will provide support to the Africa communications team while overseeing digital and social media engagement across regional platforms to highlight Habitat’s initiatives in Africa effectively.

Working collaboratively with the Africa programs team, you will contribute to the development and execution of regional strategies that advance fundraising, advocacy, and program objectives, ensuring full alignment with the organization’s overarching goals.

Collaborate in the acquisition of content to craft engaging narratives and materials that effectively convey impact and address the priorities of essential stakeholders, including those in fundraising, advocacy, and program development.

Support the management of website content and oversee regional social media platforms to enhance audience engagement, increase visibility, and drive growth.

Assist in upholding Habitat’s brand standards by collaborating on the review and refinement of communications materials—including stories, photos, and videos—to maintain consistency and high quality.

Assist in organizing and executing communications initiatives throughout the region, encompassing media relations, strategic partnership visibility, and campaign launches.

Support the planning and execution of communications for regional events, encompassing branding initiatives, photographic coverage, and post-event storytelling efforts.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, along with at least three years of hands-on experience in the industry. Proficiency in industry-specific software, tools, or methodologies is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities are required to work effectively in team environments. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development to adapt to evolving industry standards and technologies.

A bachelor’s degree in communications or a closely related discipline is required.
