Assisting in the formulation and execution of CFS’s strategy, in close collaboration with regional WBG teams, with an emphasis on advancing WBG’s strategic priorities across the Africa region.

EMP/M&A Advisory: Partnering with regional leaders to advance the initiation and completion of buy-side and sell-side advisory engagements, restructuring mandates, and EMP services projects across the Africa region.

Leading strategic pre-IPO advisory initiatives across five regions, this role involves originating and executing high-impact mandates. Responsibilities include guiding teams in advising clients on optimal listing strategies, regulatory compliance, and critical market timing considerations; assessing and recommending improvements to corporate and balance sheet structures, valuation frameworks, and business planning; developing comprehensive listing timetables, broker selection criteria, and prospectus documentation; preparing executive leadership and board members for the listing process; and providing expert advisory services in corporate governance.

Relationship Management involves cultivating robust professional ties with internal stakeholders across Africa’s regions and industry sectors, focusing on uncovering strategic collaboration opportunities to drive business growth and operational excellence in alignment with IFC’s corporate goals.

Client Management: Collaborating with international clients and internal teams to devise transaction strategies, conduct bankability evaluations, assess funding feasibility, and develop financial models and business plans or restructuring initiatives.

Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing essential transaction reports and project documentation, such as marketing materials for each deal, information memorandum, due diligence findings, transaction structuring reports, as well as contracts and agreements.

Mentorship responsibilities include guiding junior colleagues and supporting their efforts to meet business objectives.

Corporate Initiative: Enhancing IFC’s visibility within the CFS sector by leveraging its regional brand and aligning with the broader corporate communications strategy.

The position requires candidates who meet specific qualifications and experience to fulfill key responsibilities effectively. A Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, or consulting is required, along with a minimum of 12–15 years of relevant professional experience. Candidates with a background that integrates one or more of these disciplines will be given preference.

Drawing upon extensive experience in equity transactions, candidates should have served in key roles such as principal investor, advisor, or underwriter within investment banks, venture capital firms, or private equity institutions.

Seasoned professionals with transaction advisory expertise, particularly in buy-side and sell-side mandates, as well as restructuring mandates, are encouraged to apply—ideally with a background in disruptive technology sectors.

Delivers consistent, high-impact results in M&A, restructuring, and IPO engagements, even within demanding schedules and high-pressure environments.

Demonstrated expertise in cultivating and sustaining high-value client partnerships while effectively managing mandates in cross-border and challenging operational contexts.

Proficiency in guiding companies through the process of going public on prominent international stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, is highly advantageous.

Proven ability to consistently achieve business objectives, coupled with extensive investment expertise, exceptional business acumen, and a well-regarded professional reputation.
