Our client, a rapidly expanding mid-sized freight forwarding firm based in Nairobi, offers comprehensive air and sea cargo solutions from pivotal global hubs such as Dubai, Guangzhou, London, Milan, Johannesburg, Istanbul, and Amsterdam. With a monthly volume of 80–100 tonnes of air freight—encompassing both commercial and personal shipments—and a consistent throughput of one 40ft container per day, they ensure full end-to-end shipment visibility, from warehouse intake to customs clearance and final delivery.

The organization is in search of a forward-thinking and seasoned Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to assume full operational leadership, enhance existing systems, and spearhead the next stage of expansion.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards. This position entails managing key operational tasks, maintaining high performance standards, and fostering collaborative efforts across departments. Additionally, the role requires adherence to established policies, meticulous attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving to address challenges effectively. Strong leadership, analytical capabilities, and effective communication are essential to drive team productivity and achieve desired outcomes.

Oversee the comprehensive management of all seven functional departments, including Sales, Customer Service, Transport, Marketing, Call Center, Warehouse, and Operations.

Drive consistent revenue expansion ranging from 20% to 30% annually while enhancing profit margins through strategic initiatives.

Deliver an elevated client experience by expediting the resolution of delays, breakages, and claims.

Supervise the management of air freight operations, sea container logistics, warehousing solutions, transportation networks, and customs clearance procedures.

Foster robust international collaborations and deploy technological solutions to enhance tracking capabilities and operational efficiency.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & CAREER EXPERIENCE:

10-15 years of experience in freight forwarding/logistics, with strong experience in air freight and containerized sea freight.

With a minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership in executive capacities—such as General Manager, Director, or Chief Executive Officer roles—along with direct accountability for profit and loss management, you bring the strategic experience required for this position.

Demonstrated excellence in client service and a strong history of enhancing operational efficiency within logistics environments.

A thorough understanding of the regulatory landscape in Kenya and East Africa, including the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Ports Authority (PA), and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEYS), is required.

A bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related discipline is essential, while an MBA or certifications such as CULT or FIAT would provide an additional competitive edge.
