JOB SUMMARY
The Community Oral Health Officer delivers preventive, promotive, and basic curative oral healthcare services to patients, adhering to established professional standards and Ministry of Health directives. Additionally, the officer plays a pivotal role in facilitating community oral health initiatives, conducting patient education, performing diagnoses, administering treatments, and coordinating referrals for dental conditions as necessary.
Oversee a range of critical duties encompassing project execution, cross-functional coordination, and strategic planning to ensure operational excellence and alignment with organizational objectives. Tooth extraction procedures involve the careful removal of a tooth from its socket in the alveolar bone. This process is typically performed by a dentist or oral surgeon due to severe decay, gum disease, trauma, or orthodontic requirements. Before the procedure, a comprehensive examination, including X-rays, may be conducted to assess the tooth’s position and surrounding bone structure. Proficient in performing oral prophylaxis procedures, ensuring thorough cleaning and maintenance of patients’ oral health. Skilled in scaling and root planing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains, while also providing patient education on proper oral hygiene techniques. Familiar with using various dental instruments and equipment to deliver efficient and effective treatments. Strong attention to detail is essential to identify and address potential dental issues during prophylaxis sessions. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred. Proven experience of at least five years in software development, with expertise in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Familiarity with software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps, is required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to effectively convey technical concepts. Ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot issues efficiently is crucial. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines. Demonstrated leadership in previous roles is a plus.
A recognized institution must confer a Diploma in Community Oral Health.
Registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC), ensuring compliance with national professional standards.
Holds an active and valid professional license in good standing.
BLS certification represents an advantageous qualification for this role.
A minimum of two to three years of professional experience in a reputable healthcare setting is highly advantageous.
