Our esteemed client, a prominent law firm based in Nairobi, Kenya, is recruiting a Commercial and Conveyancing Advocate to join their team. The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional professional ethics, strong work ethic, and the capacity to operate with minimal oversight. Additionally, they should possess excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, along with a proactive and self-driven approach to work.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of responsibilities designed to ensure operational efficiency and team productivity. Lead and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance workflow processes and achieve organizational objectives. Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align goals and drive consistent results. Prepare detailed reports on project statuses, key performance indicators, and progress updates for senior leadership. Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards throughout all operations.

Demonstrates proficiency in drafting security documentation and guarantees accurate execution and registration of all relevant filings.

Conduct thorough research to determine legal property ownership by examining government land registry records, or, in cases where the land remains unregistered, by reviewing title deeds.

Draft and finalize property lease agreements while guaranteeing contracts are executed by the agreed-upon transfer date.

Ensure the expedited and meticulous processing of all client matters with the Lands Registry, Local Authorities, Survey of Kenya, and National Lands Commission.

We collaborate closely with clients and essential stakeholders, including mortgage lenders, real estate agents, property appraisers, and surveyors.

The engagement terms, along with fee and disbursement estimates, will be provided to you for review.

Provide support in conducting due diligence and addressing intellectual property matters pertaining to contracts, agreements, and other transactional activities.

Processing stamp duty payments and registering documents across multiple registries is a key responsibility of the role. This involves accurately handling financial transactions related to stamp duty and ensuring all documentation is properly filed with the relevant registry offices.

Obtain all necessary clearance certificates and consents required for the project.

Liaison at the Land Registry and Government departments.

Responsibilities include preparing conveyancing documents and various legal instruments with precision and adherence to regulatory standards.

Foster strong client relationships while ensuring all client expectations are consistently met.

Seeking a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, complemented by three or more years of relevant professional experience. Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with familiarity with software development methodologies and version control systems like Git. Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment are required. The ideal applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.

A minimum of three to four years’ post-admission experience is required within a high-volume commercial law firm or department, with a primary focus on Conveyancing, Real Estate, and projects, as well as Banking Securities and Commercial Law.
