Our esteemed mid-sized law firm, headquartered in Nairobi and renowned for its specialized knowledge in commercial and real estate law, is actively seeking a skilled and driven Advocate to bolster its growing legal team. The successful applicant will provide essential support in managing conveyancing matters, facilitating commercial transactions, and delivering expert legal advisory services.

The primary functions and key responsibilities involve overseeing and executing core operational tasks while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. This role requires a proactive approach to managing daily activities, adhering to established protocols, and contributing to long-term strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating team efforts, monitoring performance metrics, and fostering a collaborative work environment to drive productivity and efficiency. Responsible for managing conveyancing matters from start to finish, ensuring all processes are completed accurately and efficiently.

Prepare, review, and negotiate property and conveyancing agreements with precision and attention to detail.

Draft sale agreements, lease contracts, transfer deeds, securities documentation, and closing statements with precision and clarity.

Perform comprehensive legal due diligence reviews for property transactions to ensure thorough assessment and compliance.

Oversee property registration procedures to maintain adherence to applicable land legislation and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with land registries, survey offices, and the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning to facilitate approvals and registrations.

Responsible for preparing, drafting, and examining commercial contracts as well as transactional documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to legal standards.

Offer expert legal counsel and guidance on commercial and real estate-related issues, ensuring compliance and strategic decision-making.

Verify that all transactions comply with applicable laws and regulatory standards.

Cultivate and sustain professional connections with clients and pertinent stakeholders.

Collaborate with lenders, valuers, estate agents, and surveyors to facilitate seamless transaction completion.

Provide prompt legal counsel and regular progress updates to clients.

Execute all tasks and responsibilities assigned by the firm with diligence and professionalism.

We seek a professional who meets the following criteria: a minimum of five years of experience in a related field, proficiency in industry-standard software, and strong problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience. Responsibilities include managing complex projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the capacity to work independently and meet tight deadlines. Prior supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

A minimum of two years of active legal practice experience in a high-volume professional setting is required.

Must hold a current and valid professional practice license.

A recognized university must confer an upper-second-class Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.
