POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role involves overseeing the medical care of outpatients on a daily basis while providing guidance and mentorship to junior medical staff. The Medical Officer leads the initiation, assessment, and follow-up of outpatient care, maintaining communication with lead surgeons to address any critical changes in a patient’s condition and determine appropriate treatment and management strategies.
Performs a range of critical responsibilities integral to the role, including but not limited to managing daily operations, coordinating team activities, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Required to maintain meticulous attention to detail while executing assigned tasks efficiently, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and timeliness. Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with the Medical Officer’s established scope of clinical practice as needed.
Conduct in-depth evaluations of pathology, radiology, and other diagnostic reports, ensuring pertinent findings are accurately conveyed to the primary surgeon for informed decision-making.
The patient’s medical record must be meticulously documented with comprehensive details, including their medical history, examination findings, management strategies, relevant investigations, and any actions taken.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to streamline patient care coordination and enhance throughput efficiency within the facility.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of both outpatient and inpatient cases, collaborating closely with pertinent residents and primary surgeons to ensure thorough assessment and coordinated care.
Diagnose and manage patient conditions by initiating and overseeing necessary steps, such as ordering radiology and pathology tests, prescribing suitable medications, and coordinating referrals for specialist consultations when needed.
Deliver brief, targeted educational sessions tailored to the needs of junior medical staff in a practical, on-the-go format.
Maintain open and compassionate dialogue with patients and/or their immediate family members regarding their medical condition.
The Medical Officer must maintain a valid and current license at all times throughout their tenure.
Overseeing a range of critical clinical support services, such as Pharmacy, laboratory operations, radiology, biomedical technology, and nutritional services, is a key responsibility of this role.
Overseeing the performance of all clinical officers within the facility constitutes a primary responsibility.
Engage in departmental quality management initiatives in accordance with established Hospital Quality standards.
Assist in various operational tasks as needed to support the team’s objectives and ensure seamless workflow continuity. Perform additional responsibilities that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of departmental functions. Undertake supplementary assignments to address unforeseen challenges or special projects that arise during daily operations. Provide support to colleagues and managers in executing ad-hoc duties to maintain productivity and meet organizational goals. Contribute to cross-functional initiatives by lending expertise or resources wherever necessary to enhance collaborative efforts.
