Purpose of Position
Provide strategic technical guidance to lead the effective execution of interventions addressing child protection—specifically Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and child marriage—within the AVUS-funded “The Kenya Big Dream” initiative in Arabic County. This role will contribute to empowering households to safeguard, nurture, and support girls and boys, protecting them from all forms of abuse while enhancing overall child well-being outcomes.
The Project Officer will be responsible for driving community engagement initiatives, ensuring seamless implementation, monitoring progress, and delivering comprehensive reports on programs aimed at raising awareness about the harmful impacts of child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM). They will also oversee efforts to promote social norms that discourage FGM and child marriage, facilitate the adoption of locally accepted and owned Alternative Rites of Passage, and bolster grassroots Anti-FGM movements involving women, men, girls, boys, youth, and even circumcisers. Additionally, the role includes empowering communities to establish safe and protective environments for children to flourish, as well as strengthening formal child protection systems at both the National and County levels.

Quality Assurance professionals are responsible for overseeing monitoring processes, compiling detailed reports, and maintaining accurate documentation to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures. Consistently explore new opportunities that will enhance the Program’s overall success.
