Key Accountabilities:
Prepare, evaluate, revise, and oversee contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks through careful negotiation and management.
Offer expert legal counsel on investment transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring endeavors.
Perform comprehensive legal due diligence assessments for prospective investments and potential business partnerships to identify risks, liabilities, and compliance issues.
Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies through ongoing oversight and verification.
Facilitate corporate governance activities, with a focus on board and committee operations.
Facilitate communication and collaboration with external legal representatives, regulatory bodies, and relevant stakeholders to address and resolve legal inquiries and obligations.
Responsibilities include managing and updating legal records, contracts, and statutory registers to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Perform comprehensive legal research and deliver prompt legal opinions regarding evolving matters impacting the business.
Provide necessary assistance to the Company Secretary function whenever needed.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience. Candidates must possess at least three years of hands-on experience in a similar role, with a strong proficiency in industry-standard software and tools. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments. A proven track record of delivering results and meeting deadlines is required, and familiarity with project management methodologies is preferred.
A law degree, specifically a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), is required for this position.
As a distinguished legal professional, this role requires representation before the High Court, ensuring adherence to legal standards and client advocacy with utmost diligence and integrity. The position entails thorough preparation of legal arguments, meticulous review of case files, and strategic presentation of evidence to secure favorable outcomes. Candidates must possess a robust understanding of courtroom procedures, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to upholding justice through ethical practice. Proficiency in legal research, persuasive communication, and the ability to navigate complex legal frameworks are essential. Prior experience in High Court litigation is highly advantageous, along with strong interpersonal abilities to liaise effectively with clients, colleagues, and judicial authorities.
A minimum of two years of professional experience following admission is required.
Experience in corporate law, commercial law, litigation, and conveyancing, preferably gained through roles in-house or within a high-volume law firm.
