The Director-General will serve as the Authority’s chief executive officer, reporting to and acting under the Board’s directives while overseeing the Authority’s daily operational management.
Oversee and execute a diverse array of tasks essential to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and maintaining high standards of performance. Serve as a key contributor to strategic initiatives, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and innovation. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize workflows and enhance productivity. The Authority fulfills its statutory obligations under the VET Act CAP 210A, thereby ensuring compliance with its designated mandate.
Acts as the intermediary between the Board and management, ensuring consistent updates to the Board regarding all critical technical, financial, strategic, administrative, and other pertinent matters of the Authority.
To formulate and present to the Board strategic plans, operational roadmaps, and yearly financial allocations aligned with the Authority’s objectives.
Serves as an ex officio member and secretary to the Board, responsible for implementing and disseminating the Board’s strategies, decisions, and policies.
Devise and enforce robust financial management policies to ensure optimal fiscal governance and operational efficiency.
Develop and finalize the annual budget while instituting robust internal control mechanisms to safeguard financial integrity and operational efficiency.
Implement robust internal control systems and procedures to ensure operational integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.
Develop and nurture a corporate culture that champions the adoption of ethical business practices and strong corporate governance standards.
Serve as the designated Spokesperson for the Authority, representing its official communications to the public and stakeholders.

Ensure adherence to the Constitution, organizational policies, applicable laws, regulatory standards, and established procedures.
The Board may assign additional responsibilities as needed, in accordance with constitutional and other applicable legal requirements.
Candidates must meet specific qualifications and prerequisites to be considered for the position. Eligible applicants should possess a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in the field. With a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Director or in an equivalent role within the Public Sector or Private Sector, the candidate must demonstrate proven leadership.
A Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (VET) is required.

Possesses specialized knowledge and experience in technical and vocational education-related matters.
A doctorate degree in a related field will be highly beneficial.
A leadership course of at least four weeks from a reputable institution is highly beneficial.
Membership in an appropriate professional organization, as applicable, is required.
Possessing Kenyan citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this position.
