We will support the creation of the national oil spill response contingency plan, covering both coastal and inland waterways.

Support pollution prevention inspections at Kenyan ports and navigable waterways as part of the assigned duties.
Contribute to the organization of public awareness initiatives aimed at preventing pollution originating from ships.
Support the execution of international conventions and related instruments focused on marine pollution response and coordination efforts.
Qualifications & Skills
ACADEMIC
Qualified Marine Engineer Officers holding a Certificate of Competency (COC) issued under the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watch keeping (STCW) Convention are eligible to apply. Candidates must possess relevant engineering qualifications and sea service experience as stipulated by the issuing maritime authority. The role demands strict adherence to STCW regulations, including maintaining proficiency in safety and emergency procedures, marine engineering operations, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include overseeing machinery maintenance, supervising engineering personnel, and ensuring operational efficiency while prioritizing crew and vessel safety.
A Certificate of Competency as a Deck Officer, compliant with STCW standards, is required for this position.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required to qualify for this position.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering is required.
A bachelor’s degree in Marine Environment or a related field is required for this position.
A Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Science is required for this position.
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies or a closely related field is required for this position.
