OR

A degree in Journalism, Mass Media, Film, Animation, or a closely related discipline is required for this position.

Specialization in Film & Virtual Production/Gaming & Extended Reality Development

Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a similar position in a recognized academic institution.

Key responsibilities also encompass overseeing project timelines, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards. Additionally, the role involves conducting regular performance evaluations, identifying areas for professional development, and implementing strategies to enhance team productivity. Managing stakeholder communications, resolving conflicts, and fostering a collaborative work environment are also integral components of this position. Reporting directly to the Head of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, this position involves close collaboration with departmental leadership to ensure alignment with academic and administrative objectives. The role requires adherence to institutional policies while contributing to the strategic direction of the department’s programs and initiatives. Effective communication and a strong understanding of academic governance are essential to support the department’s mission and foster a productive working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the day-to-day activities in the journalism studios and laboratories.

Responsibilities include configuring, evaluating, and managing equipment to accommodate the unique demands of film and gaming productions.

Providing mentorship and support to students throughout their hands-on learning activities and projects.

Delivering specialized technical assistance throughout outdoor recording and production sessions.

Maintain consistent and reliable internet connectivity within the studio and laboratory environments.

Monitoring the quality of productions for students’ projects.

Prepare and oversee the recording and direction of event productions with precision and expertise.

Investigate innovative ICT solutions to enhance the efficiency and productivity of studio operations.

Responsibilities include managing and supervising the repair and maintenance of studio equipment to ensure optimal functionality and operational readiness at all times.

Responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing all studio equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Perform preventive maintenance of all studio equipment including networking.

Performs routine oversight and upkeep of computer systems and associated peripherals.

Maintaining studio inventory.

Responsibilities include overseeing and guiding students during their hands-on practical sessions to ensure safe, effective, and educational execution of tasks.

Ensuring the studio’s overall safety protocols are upheld is a key responsibility of the role. This includes adherence to established safety guidelines and the implementation of necessary precautions to mitigate potential hazards.

Assisting the Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication with additional responsibilities as assigned from time to time.
