The Associate MEP Engineer plays a key role in facilitating the execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for Colo’s data center construction initiatives. This position ensures MEP components are implemented with precision, aligning with project-specific demands related to cost efficiency, timeline adherence, safety protocols, and operational excellence.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties, including but not limited to strategic planning, team leadership, and operational management. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align objectives, streamline processes, and enhance overall productivity. Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry regulations, and quality standards while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to facilitate seamless communication and drive project success. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members to support professional growth and achieve departmental goals.

Project management involves planning, executing, and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the specified quality standards. Responsibilities include defining project scope, allocating resources, managing timelines, and coordinating team efforts to achieve objectives. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall. Additionally, experience with project management tools like Asana, Trello, or Jira is often required.

Develop a comprehensive knowledge of contract documents, including drawings and specifications, phasing plans, interdependencies of MEP systems, construction sequencing, and the project schedule.

Conduct a thorough examination of construction documents to ensure they are comprehensive and feasible for implementation.

The RFP document undergoes a dual review process before being distributed to consultants, contractors, and suppliers.

Develop preliminary assessments of proposals submitted by consultants, contractors, and suppliers for review and analysis.

Review and assess the responsibility matrix for projects to pinpoint any instances of scope overlap, deficiencies, or unauthorized expansion.

Collaborate on the assessment and compilation of design and project risk logs to ensure comprehensive documentation and proactive risk management.

Evaluate and provide feedback on the project schedule submitted by contractors and suppliers.

Assist in managing the installation of MEP systems while providing supervision, guidance, and oversight to MEP subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and timelines.

Work collaboratively across departments to align project timelines, allocate necessary resources, and coordinate inspections in support of the established project schedule.

Provide expert technical assistance and troubleshooting to address hardware, software, or system-related issues reported by users. Diagnose problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to ensure minimal downtime and seamless operations. Maintain detailed records of support interactions, including issue descriptions, diagnostic steps, and resolutions, in a ticketing system. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering and development, to escalate complex problems and facilitate timely fixes. Stay updated on product updates, emerging technologies, and best practices in technical support to enhance service quality. Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, offering clear and concise guidance while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.

The initial evaluation encompasses a thorough examination of designs, drawings, schematics, and accompanying documentation submitted by consultants.

Provide support in resolving any arising issues between MEP Subcontractors throughout the construction phase by maintaining a documented record of discussions and ensuring their resolution.

Maintain a comprehensive log of RBIs and technical submittals to ensure all inquiries receive responses and contractor feedback is provided promptly.

Provide support for the testing and commissioning of MEP equipment by compiling and finalizing all necessary documentation.

Oversee the procurement, maintenance, and deployment of all commissioning-related equipment, including load banks, containment systems, power loggers, thermal imagers, and other essential tools. Ensure these materials are properly calibrated, stored, and readily available to support efficient commissioning operations.

Oversee the preparation and maintenance of comprehensive reports and documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established protocols. Responsible for compiling data, analyzing information, and presenting findings in a clear, concise, and professional manner. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to gather necessary information and verify its validity before finalizing reports. Ensure all documentation meets regulatory, organizational, and industry standards while facilitating easy retrieval and reference.

Ensure all MEP modifications and as-built details are accurately recorded and updated on field drawings.

Ensure the timely receipt and proper storage of all supplier and contractor handover documents, including Soon, manuals, warranties, and other required materials.

Ensure site-specific capacity planners are consistently revised to align with expansion initiatives and any equipment modifications.

Compile monthly technical reports for examination and distribution by the MEP engineer.

Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and safety protocols to mitigate operational risks and maintain a secure work environment.

Ensure that all MEP subcontractors furnish and maintain the necessary Quality documentation and records in compliance with applicable standards.

Verify that all MEP subcontractors comply with the established Project safety regulations.

Develop and oversee the company’s Zero Injury and Safe Power On initiatives across all project sites.

LEED accreditation is regarded favorably.

Proven expertise in the design, construction, and management of expansive infrastructure projects, including but not limited to data centers.

A valid driver’s license is required for this position.

Capable of traveling to project sites as needed to fulfill job obligations.
