What you’ll do

The Investment Director will serve as a key pillar of our investment team, assuming primary responsibility for deal origination, structuring, and portfolio management across our designated markets. Reporting directly to the Head of Fund, this role requires seasoned judgment to evaluate and execute complex, often pioneering transactions while shaping fund strategy and mentoring junior team members.

An ideal candidate for this position is an investor who excels in uncertain conditions, finds motivation in advancing sustainable finance and natural capital, and combines strong analytical rigor with the interpersonal abilities necessary to finalize transactions and create value in demanding market conditions.

The core duties encompass conducting thorough research, analyzing market trends, and preparing comprehensive reports to inform strategic business decisions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the role involves aligning project objectives with organizational goals and ensuring timely execution of deliverables. Additionally, the position requires maintaining accurate documentation, adhering to regulatory standards, and providing actionable insights to stakeholders. Proficiency in data management software, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of professional experience are required.

Proactively cultivate investment opportunities in reforestation, blue carbon, and sustainable agriculture and land use within emerging markets by identifying, originating, and qualifying potential deals. Establish and nurture a robust, proprietary pipeline by leveraging on-the-ground connections with project developers, governmental entities, and ecosystem intermediaries. Implement a rigorous screening framework to evaluate opportunities against the fund’s financial and impact benchmarks.

You will oversee the full investment lifecycle, conducting comprehensive assessments for corporate and project opportunities, which encompasses financial modelling, carbon methodology evaluation, legal and regulatory scrutiny, community and environmental safeguards, as well as country and political risk analysis. Additionally, you will design and negotiate investment terms, crafting compelling investment committee submissions that present a compelling and evidence-based recommendation. All investments must adhere to portfolio return targets, impact goals, and defined risk parameters.

Post-close, assume active stewardship of portfolio investments by meticulously tracking performance against key performance indicators, proactively identifying risks, and offering direct operational assistance to investees as necessary. Collaborate closely with project teams to bolster operational resilience, enhance carbon credit issuance results, and uncover additional avenues for value creation.

You will spearhead the development and nurturing of high-impact strategic partnerships—such as carbon credit offtakers, co-investors, and technical or research collaborators—to enhance the fund’s investment appeal and mitigate risks in individual transactions. In this senior role, you will act as the primary relationship manager, overseeing partner engagements throughout the entire deal lifecycle.

Investor relations support involves contributing to investor reporting and engagement by delivering precise, prompt, and analytically rich updates on deal advancement and portfolio results. Additionally, it includes assisting fundraising efforts by providing verifiable, deal-level proof of the fund’s strategic execution.
