Assist in formulating and implementing the Legal department’s strategic initiatives to align with organizational objectives.
Monitor and analyze Kenya’s legislative landscape to ensure the business remains fully compliant with all applicable legal requirements.
Maintain a comprehensive grasp of regulatory matters and the applicable regulatory framework governing business operations, while assuming accountability for crafting well-informed solutions that empower the business to effectively address and navigate regulatory limitations.
The incumbent will oversee all litigation involving the business as directed by the Head of Legal, Kenya, including developing and implementing comprehensive case strategies.
Provide assistance to the Head of Legal, Kenya in overseeing entity management and maintaining adherence to robust corporate governance standards for our client’s entities within the jurisdiction.
Collaborate across departments to engage in business projects and initiatives, evaluating, tracking, and proactively addressing potential risks to mitigate legal exposure and support the realization of organizational goals.
Draft, negotiate, and finalize contractual documentation while establishing standardized formats to enhance operational efficiencies across the Legal sub-function.
Perform essential administrative functions within the department to maintain resource availability, facilitate seamless information flow, and ensure all records remain current.
Enhance the legal department’s control environment to align with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Candidates must possess the following educational qualifications, relevant professional experience, and key competencies:
Obtained a recognized legal qualification from a reputable academic institution and demonstrated proficiency in delivering legal counsel to internal stakeholders.
A minimum of three to four years of legal experience obtained after qualification is required.
A minimum of two to three years of experience in high-pressure law firm environments is highly preferred.
Seasoned professionals with a proven track record in handling legal disputes and overseeing the complexities of litigation proceedings are encouraged to apply. A strong background in managing legal cases from inception through resolution is essential, along with the ability to navigate procedural requirements, coordinate with legal teams, and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines.
Proficiency in company secretarial practice and familiarity with board matters (CPSK) would be advantageous.
A comprehensive understanding of local substantive and procedural laws is essential, encompassing key areas such as Commercial Law, labor regulations, land laws, factory and manufacturing compliance, as well as Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) legislation.
Exceptional proficiency in negotiation, along with highly developed written and verbal communication abilities, is essential.
