Mission Description

Oversee the teams responsible for maritime export operations originating from Kenya.

Ensure the team remains apprised of all changes and developments while facilitating the required internal adjustments and clearly defined objectives.

Assess the performance of direct reports through structured evaluations and provide constructive feedback to foster professional growth.

Enhance employee competencies through targeted skill development initiatives.

Ensure the establishment of robust procedures for transferring cases when organizational changes occur within the team.

Develop and establish the Middle Office organization, enhance its expertise, and implement the necessary tools and standardized processes required to ensure operational excellence.

The organization, expertise, and resources must be aligned with the objectives set forth by the Manager to ensure operational effectiveness and strategic consistency.

Consistently evaluate the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to verify alignment with customer service objectives.

Oversee the execution of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) by the Management Operations (MO) team, conduct internal and external quality audits, and ensure ongoing compliance by comparing progress against the approved action plan.

Coordinate and monitor operations.

Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality service to all clients.

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to ensure operational stability and compliance with established policies.

Develop and implement a robust risk control framework to systematically identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential risks across the organization.

Ensure all necessary measures are taken to minimize any additional or extra cost exposure.

Ensure adherence to mutually agreed contractual KPIs with clients while also meeting established internal performance benchmarks.

To execute all necessary measures aimed at minimizing disbursement exposure, this role involves ensuring strict adherence to compliance classification protocols, accurately processing billing and expense entries, and proactively managing associated risks—with particular emphasis on debit-related exposures.

Collaborate with both Front Office and Back Office teams, including Legal and Insurance, to manage the customer disputes process, identifying and executing measures to eliminate recurring root causes.

Ensure comprehensive insurance coverage is maintained for all services, whether provided through our own resources or via third-party contractors, with the support of the Back-Office Insurance team.

Management must be kept regularly informed of all significant developments, issues, and concerns. This includes presenting timely updates on operational performance, project progress, financial status, and any deviations from established plans or objectives. Clear and concise communication is essential to ensure alignment with strategic goals and to facilitate prompt decision-making. Additionally, any risks, challenges, or opportunities that may impact the organization must be proactively reported enabling swift and effective responses.

Identify key customers based on factors such as cargo type, shipment volumes, financial stability, and account significance, then establish tailored operational monitoring frameworks as needed.

Gather relevant data on operational risks, including customs-related concerns, and compile a monthly report for the Manager.

To ensure leadership remains informed, compile and present a monthly report to the Manager detailing the department’s performance metrics and providing forward-looking projections for the coming months, while incorporating key market dynamics such as customer trends and competitive landscape.

Earn a diploma in Clearing & Freight Forwarding or a closely related discipline.

With a minimum of five years of experience in a high-volume C & F enterprise specializing in sea exports, you will have held a managerial position within the organization.
