Job Purpose
The Medical Officer will deliver exceptional clinical care to patients, engage in collaborative patient management across multidisciplinary teams, facilitate teaching and training initiatives, and uphold the hospital’s commitment to providing sustainable, outstanding holistic healthcare services.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties central to the role, including but not limited to strategic planning, operational management, and cross-functional collaboration. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and performance metrics to enhance efficiency and productivity while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Lead and mentor teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Monitor industry trends and competitive landscapes to identify opportunities for growth and risk mitigation. Prepare and present detailed reports to senior leadership, outlining progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations. Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear communication and alignment of expectations across all levels of the organization.
Evaluate, identify, provide treatment, and oversee patient care across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and specialized healthcare environments.
Formulate and execute suitable care plans that align with recognized clinical protocols and evidence-based methodologies.
Accomplish medical procedures strictly within the boundaries of established scope of practice and individual professional competence.
Attend ward rounds, conduct clinical audits, participate in mortality and morbidity reviews, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure patient records and clinical documentation are maintained with accuracy and timeliness.
Work effectively alongside consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, and other healthcare staff to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Deliver comprehensive health education sessions and personalized counseling to patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed and supported in managing their health.
Engage in assigned emergency call duties, outreach programs, and community health initiatives as required.
We facilitate the training and mentorship of medical students, interns, and other healthcare trainees.
Facilitate advancements in research, innovation, and evidence-based clinical practice through your contributions.
Maintain strict compliance with all professional, ethical, legal, and regulatory standards that govern medical practice.
Seeking a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as electrical engineering or computer science, along with a minimum of three years of experience in a similar role. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or C++ is required, along with experience working with databases and APIs. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently are essential. Additionally, familiarity with version control systems like Git and experience with Agile methodologies are preferred.
Holders of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) degree or an equivalent qualification from a fully accredited institution are eligible to apply.
Licensed and registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
A current and active professional license in good standing is required.
Successfully complete an internship training program to gain hands-on experience in the field.
A minimum of one (1) year of clinical practice following an internship is highly desirable.
Professional certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is highly desirable.
