POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Coordinator oversees daily facility maintenance operations, ensuring buildings, water systems, grounds, furniture, nonmedical equipment, and waste management systems remain in optimal and safe working conditions across hospital premises. By supporting the Facility Manager/Director, they facilitate seamless maintenance and operational continuity of the hospital’s infrastructure while also coordinating infrastructure projects related to building and construction activities.
Responsibilities include overseeing core operations to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Key requirements involve maintaining high standards of professionalism and accuracy in all assigned tasks. The Facility Manager/Director oversees the implementation of maintenance objects, ensuring their proper management and execution.
Provide support in the planning, development, and implementation of authorized construction and renovation initiatives.
Develop and enforce a maintenance strategy utilizing the CMS (computerized asset management system), ensuring consistent follow-through, while providing assistance to the maintenance team to meet the facility’s maintenance objectives.
Serves as the organization’s internal auditor, responsible for reviewing and evaluating all tasks, assignments, and deliverables completed by external contractors.
Compiles and maintains thorough documentation for internal construction initiatives, including bill of quantities (BOQ’s), project plans, inspection records, and handover reports.
Oversees and sustains the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring its accuracy and functionality while delivering training to system users. Conducts an annual audit of the system’s data, verifying its completeness and correctness, and collaborates with the Facility Manager or Director to address discrepancies and implement necessary updates.
Direct supervision and mentoring of the maintenance team will be provided, ensuring adherence to established practices and procedures for the upkeep of facilities and equipment.
Collaborates with various departments to align maintenance operations, ensuring seamless departmental functionality and effective execution of maintenance tasks.
Collaborates with the Facility Manager/Director to establish and execute maintenance schedules for facility infrastructure and associated nonmedical equipment that fall outside service agreements.
Oversee the tracking of inventory for all supplies, tools, and equipment allocated to the maintenance department, and verify that maintenance staff are equipped with and properly utilize the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), tools, and materials required to complete their assigned duties.
Overseeing the engagement and performance of all casual staff members assigned to internal building projects, ensuring strict adherence to the hospital’s employment policy criteria.
Documents maintenance tasks, achievements, and any notable events for review by the Facility Manager or Director.
Collaborates closely with the maintenance team to execute essential maintenance tasks, performing hands-on maintenance and construction duties across various systems and structures, such as buildings, water and wastewater systems, electrical systems, as well as furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE).
The position involves managing the repair of pertinent tools and equipment, either independently or in collaboration with other skilled personnel and external vendors as needed.
Maintains a current repository of both electronic and physical copies of equipment manuals and schematic diagrams provided by manufacturers.
Maintains consistent adherence to safety protocols by utilizing appropriate protective gear throughout all task execution.
Maintains clear and professional communication with colleagues pertaining to equipment, facilities, and their appropriate utilization.
Compiles and presents performance data of the maintenance team to the Facility Manager or Director, ensuring clear communication of key metrics and operational outcomes.
Develop and coordinate work schedules for teams, adhering to the guidance and oversight provided by the Facility Manager or Director.
Ensures the proper storage, issuance, utilization, maintenance, and overall management of all maintenance-related tools and assets within the hospital.
Must be prepared to provide on-call support during weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
Guarantee adherence to all Health & Safety policies and protocols throughout every work activity, ensuring the proper utilization of required Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
