The Position

Reporting directly to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire hands-on experience in Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. This internship offers exposure to essential ICT responsibilities, such as user support, systems administration, network monitoring, data and systems management, and ICT security operations. The intern will collaborate closely with the ICT team to facilitate daily operations, contribute to active projects, and advance the organization’s mission by maintaining seamless, secure, and dependable ICT services.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical functions and obligations, including but not limited to strategic planning, operational oversight, team leadership, and performance management. Ensure adherence to organizational policies, maintain compliance with industry regulations, and foster a collaborative work environment that drives productivity and innovation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align departmental objectives with broader company goals, while monitoring progress through established metrics and reporting mechanisms. Develop and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize resource allocation. Additionally, provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, evaluate performance, and support professional development opportunities to cultivate a high-performing team.

Offer technical support to employees regarding common software and hardware challenges.

Provide support for the setup, configuration, and ongoing management of both hardware and software systems.

Provide assistance for diagnosing and resolving network-related issues while ensuring the integrity and optimal performance of the network infrastructure.

Oversee the tracking and management of ICT equipment repairs and maintenance activities to ensure timely resolution and optimal functionality.

Deliver comprehensive ICT support for meetings, events, and field activities as required.

Support Information and Communication Technology (ICT) security operations by continuously monitoring potential threats, implementing and enforcing established security policies, coordinating audit activities, and verifying adherence to organizational compliance standards.

Document any unresolved issues and promptly escalate them to senior ICT staff for further review and resolution.

Execute all additional responsibilities as directed by the ICT supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Applicants must possess a relevant bachelor’s degree in a related field, supplemented by a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Prior leadership or project management experience is highly advantageous, as are certifications pertinent to the position. Fluency in both written and spoken English is mandatory, with additional language skills considered a valuable asset.

A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field is currently being pursued or has recently been completed.

Proficient in utilizing Unix and Windows-based applications, with a foundational understanding of networking principles.

Seeking a candidate with a strong background in networking, personal computer maintenance, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, desktop operating systems, and Cisco routing, switching, and voice technologies.

Exceptional ability to engage and collaborate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders through clear, persuasive, and professional communication.

Eagerness to acquire knowledge and swiftly adapt to emerging technologies is essential.
