A rapidly expanding East African hospitality enterprise is in search of a detail-oriented, proactive, and trustworthy General Accountant. This position entails overseeing daily financial activities, ensuring accurate record-keeping, processing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining strict adherence to regulatory requirements, and generating precise monthly financial statements in a timely manner.

Compensation will be commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications, offering a highly competitive salary package.

A gross monthly salary of KES 60,000 is offered for this position.

The essential responsibilities and obligations include delivering high-quality engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, and contributing to the overall success of the team through innovative problem-solving and collaboration. Additionally, the role requires maintaining rigorous documentation, performing thorough testing and validation, and providing technical leadership to junior staff members. Proficiency in relevant tools and methodologies, along with strong communication skills, is essential for effective coordination with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The position demands a proactive approach to continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and adherence to project timelines and budgets.

Accurately record and process all daily journal entries to maintain the general ledger in current status.

Prepare and submit all statutory returns punctually through the KRA tax portal, covering VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, SHIP, NSSF, and the Affordable Housing Levy.

Conduct weekly and monthly reconciliations of bank, supplier, and customer statements to identify and address any discrepancies.

Oversee the processing of invoices, monitor client aging reports, pursue outstanding debts, and coordinate supplier payment schedules.

Compile the monthly payroll while guaranteeing precise calculations of salaries, benefits, and deductions.

Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow forecasts to support management’s evaluation and decision-making processes.

Compile and maintain financial documentation and records to facilitate the successful execution of both internal and external annual audits.

Individuals should possess a comprehensive grasp of Kenyan tax legislation alongside exceptional proficiency in utilizing the KRA tax system effectively.
