Responsibilities

We are responsible for strategizing, developing, and maintaining the company’s website to ensure its optimal performance and alignment with business objectives.

Play a pivotal role in crafting and executing an innovative web communication strategy for the corporate website(s), affiliated platforms, and the Knowledge Repository, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, strategic goals, and brand identity.

Oversee the design, upkeep, and improvement of the organization’s Drupal and State-based web platforms to guarantee their operational reliability, intuitive navigation, user accessibility, and technical optimization, while also ensuring smooth interoperability and seamless system integration.

Establish and uphold compatibility and technical benchmarks to guarantee seamless accessibility of UNEP web platforms for all users, encompassing multilingual support.

Experts in this role will provide direction to web developers, designers, and service providers, facilitating the deployment of technical solutions and enhancements across web platforms and the Knowledge Repository.

Deliver technical assistance to internal stakeholders and end-users concerning the functionality, navigation, and content management system of the website and Knowledge Repository.

Investigate and resolve technical issues, bugs, and errors to maintain the seamless functionality of UNEP’s web platforms and Knowledge Repository.

Work collaboratively with IT support teams or external vendors to resolve complex technical issues, manage necessary services and subscriptions, and ensure the seamless deployment of new applications.

Conduct comprehensive business analysis and ensure rigorous quality assurance processes to evaluate and enhance organizational performance. Analyze business requirements, identify areas for improvement, and develop solutions to optimize efficiency and productivity. Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols to verify compliance with standards, mitigate risks, and deliver high-quality outcomes. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather insights, validate findings, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across departments.

Perform business analysis, process mapping, and requirements gathering to ascertain the needs and priorities of internal stakeholders while establishing business requirements for websites, campaign sites, and the Knowledge Repository.

Interpret and formalize business requirements by converting them into detailed application functionality, comprehensive specifications, project documentation, and structured work plans.

Conceptualize innovative products and solutions by integrating design thinking methodologies and prototyping techniques to drive forward-thinking development.

Act as the central liaison for internal stakeholders, overseeing that the web platform and Knowledge Repository’s content and functionality consistently meet business objectives, remain aligned with strategic goals, and are maintained with regular updates in the required languages.

Collaborate effectively with graphic designers, UX/UI specialists, and content creators to uphold visual consistency, usability, and branding throughout the website.

Deliver expert-led training sessions for team members, content providers, and website users, focusing on content management best practices, CMS operation, website protocols, and template utilization to foster a deeper understanding of how digital platforms drive user engagement and expand UNEP’s audience reach.

Develop and oversee comprehensive content strategies while ensuring seamless management of all content initiatives. Establish frameworks to guide content creation, distribution, and performance analysis to align with organizational objectives. Lead cross-functional teams to produce high-quality, engaging content that resonates with target audiences and drives measurable outcomes. Continuously refine content approaches based on data-driven insights and evolving market trends to maintain relevance and effectiveness.

Develop and execute a robust, organization-wide web content strategy that aligns with established goals while resonating with the intended audience across web platforms and the Knowledge Repository. Establish streamlined workflows and a scalable content management system, overseeing the development, implementation, editing, and translation of pages and features to ensure consistency and efficiency.

The role involves curating premium website content, verifying accuracy, crafting engaging material, optimizing it for search engines, and aligning it with brand standards.

Perform routine quality assurance checks to verify alignment with branding, theming, and template guidelines, ensuring cohesive presentation across all web pages by standardizing fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layout structures.

Monitor feedback continuously and take prompt, appropriate action by improving current sections and spearheading the design and implementation of new, specialized webpages.

Design and implement innovative organic and paid digital marketing strategies to amplify messaging and foster engagement concerning the triple planetary crisis and its associated campaigns.

Craft strategic plans and lead campaigns across multiple digital platforms, encompassing search engines, Google and Bing paid search initiatives, and YouTube.

Monitoring performance metrics and implementing optimizations to enhance system efficiency and reliability are key responsibilities. Regular analysis of system data enables the identification of trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will devise and execute strategies to optimize performance, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and best practices.

Design and implement a comprehensive measurement framework to evaluate the efficacy of web platforms, the Knowledge Repository, individual web pages, and marketing campaigns, while ensuring continuous monitoring and performance reporting.

Utilize analytics tools to track and analyze key performance indicators on the web platform, including traffic patterns, user engagement metrics, and conversion rates.

Data analysis plays a critical role in uncovering key trends, pinpointing areas that require optimization, and revealing opportunities to elevate user experience, boost traffic, and achieve strategic business objectives.

Provide oversight of the reporting process, delivering performance insights on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, as well as for individual campaigns.

Develop and execute optimization strategies informed by data-driven insights, including A/B testing methodologies, search engine optimization enhancements, and usability refinements to elevate overall performance.

Conduct comprehensive market research and analyze emerging trends to uncover new opportunities that enhance the performance of web initiatives and marketing campaigns.

To remain current with evolving digital marketing trends and technologies, professionals must continuously monitor industry developments.

Gathers and interprets data to detect trends or patterns, delivering insights through visual representations such as graphs, charts, tables, and reports via data visualization techniques, thereby supporting data-driven planning, decision-making, presentations, and reporting.

Educational attainment is a critical factor for consideration, with candidates typically required to hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, business administration, or a closely related discipline. Proven academic excellence, as demonstrated through coursework, projects, or research, is often expected to ensure a strong foundational understanding of key concepts.

A master’s degree or equivalent advanced qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Communication, Public Information, or a closely related discipline is necessary.

A first-level university degree coupled with two years of additional qualifying experience may substitute for the advanced university degree.

Completion of degree and nondegree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is strongly preferred.
