Purpose

The Senior Accountant in Asset Management is tasked with overseeing the accounting for all assets, administering the fixed assets register, and mitigating risks associated with asset management. Additionally, they handle accounting for accruals and prepayments, ensure tax filing and compliance, and prepare financial reports in adherence to relevant IFRS standards. The position also involves managing accounts payable and expenses, strengthening internal controls, facilitating audit processes, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting initiatives in accordance with company guidelines.

Job Magnitude

Latitude collaborates closely with the Finance Manager while interfacing with Projects, Operations, and other internal departments. Additionally, the position engages with external stakeholders such as suppliers and auditors to support cross-functional initiatives.

This position plays a critical role in safeguarding financial integrity by ensuring that assets, expenses, and accruals are recognized accurately and comprehensively. It enhances financial reporting quality, strengthens audit readiness, and elevates stakeholder satisfaction by facilitating the timely completion of audits and reinforcing robust internal controls.

Facilitates the preparation and implementation of budgets and financial forecasts in accordance with established requirements and schedules.

Oversee a range of critical responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective operations. Develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals, while fostering collaboration across departments to drive productivity. Monitor performance metrics and conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement, recommending data-driven solutions to enhance overall outcomes. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal policies, ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards. Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, promoting professional growth and a culture of continuous learning. Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders, facilitating transparent communication and resolving issues proactively. Conduct comprehensive accounting for all asset categories, including fixed assets, intangible assets, and IFRS 16 leases, ensuring full adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) throughout the process.

Perform fixed assets verification and assign asset tags to maintain accurate, real-time updates of the asset register in coordination with the operations team.

Track and manage accruals and prepayments, ensuring their accurate recognition and alignment with established accounting policies.

Oversee the asset management function, which encompasses the asset register, schedules, reports, and reconciliations.

Prepare audit-ready schedules and supporting samples for assets, accruals, prepayments, and tax-related matters. Provide assistance with budgeting, forecasting processes, and management reporting activities.

Ensure adherence to tax regulations by managing VAT and WHT filings, conducting monthly reconciliations, and updating internal ledgers accordingly.

Ensure proactive management of asset risk through prompt renewal of insurance policies to maintain continuous coverage and mitigate potential exposures.

Perform treasury operations and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for the parent company.

Accurately document and postpone commissions based on contractual provisions and anticipated revenue streams.

Handle any additional duties as designated by the leadership team.

A candidate must hold a valid certification as a Certified Public Accountant from the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (IC PAK) or be an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ARCA) member in good standing.

A solid grasp of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is essential, while a working understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) would be beneficial.

With a minimum of six years of dedicated experience in a high-volume finance setting, you will have honed a deep expertise in asset management and regulatory compliance.

Proficiency at an expert level in Microsoft Excel would be highly advantageous.

Proficiency in utilizing QuickBooks and Asset Management systems is required, with a demonstrated ability to apply these tools in practical settings.

Possessing familiarity with Oracle represents an additional benefit for consideration.
