Job Description
Overall Purpose
To effectively and professionally handle client matters in the corporate commercial department from negotiation to completion of the transaction.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Managing Partner
Clerk(s) and Junior Associates report to the Senior Associate.
Summary of Responsibilities
Assisting in corporate transactions – mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, equity investments et.c
Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreementsin a variety of industries including financial, energy, real estate, FMCG, Agriculture et.c.
Providing commercially savvy legal and technical advice
Dealing with Intellectual Property matters including registration and protection of rights arising from trademarks, patents, industrial designs, copyrights and related rights, trade secrets, plant breeders’ rights and any other.
Providing advice and legal opinions, to clients on legal issues, risk and regulatory compliance and contract management strategy.
Ensure timely billing and collection of fees.
Interact regularly with current and prospective clients in order to build a good network and relationships.
Train young advocates
Qualifications
An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with a current Practicing Certificate.
5+ years post admission experience in a busy commercial law environment.
Masters Degree is an added advantage
