Objective
Our client in the healthcare sector is seeking a Theatre Nurse to collaborate within perioperative services, partnering effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to uphold safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout surgical interventions.
Oversee the execution of critical operational duties, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while maintaining high standards of efficiency and accuracy. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and foster continuous improvement across the team. Serve as a key liaison between departments, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration to achieve shared goals. Monitor performance metrics, analyze trends, and provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership to support informed decision-making. Lead cross-functional projects, delegating tasks and resources effectively to optimize outcomes and meet established deadlines.
Ensure operating theaters are meticulously prepared and that all equipment is thoroughly sterilized and fully prepared for upcoming procedures.
You will support surgeons and anesthetists throughout surgical procedures by efficiently supplying necessary instruments and ensuring adherence to aseptic protocols.
Responsibilities include tracking patients’ vital signs continuously throughout the perioperative period, encompassing preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
Deliver comprehensive nursing care before and after surgical procedures, encompassing both patient education and counselling services.
Deliver comprehensive scrub, circulating, and recovery nursing care across a diverse spectrum of surgical specialties.
Maintain rigorous adherence to aseptic technique and infection control protocols to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
Attend departmental meetings, engage in continuous medical education (CME) sessions, and take part in quality improvement projects.
Provide patients and their families with comprehensive guidance on treatment plans, proper medication usage, and strategies for preventive healthcare to ensure optimal health outcomes.
Engage proactively in evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment strategies, overseeing progress, and ensuring consistent follow-up care.
Accurately document all surgical procedures and patient progress in detailed records to ensure comprehensive tracking and compliance.
Maintain strict compliance with infection prevention and control standards within the theater environment.
Ensure the safe handling of specimens while maintaining meticulous documentation for accurate laboratory analysis.
Provide assistance during urgent surgical procedures as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferably with 3–5 years of professional experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in project management and data analysis tools. Excellent communication and organizational abilities are required to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance standards is a must. The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks efficiently, and meet deadlines is crucial for success in this role.
Earned a Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN).
Requires a Higher Diploma in Peri-operative Nursing, demonstrating specialized expertise in surgical care environments.
Licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya, the incumbent must meet the regulatory standards established for professional nursing practice within the country.
A minimum of one to two years of hands-on clinical practice is required.
