Job Purpose

The Chief Growth Officer will spearhead AMSL’s strategic transformation, driving revenue expansion, enhancing operational frameworks, commercializing technology, and strengthening institutional capabilities. This position will collaborate closely with the Managing Director and Board to transition AMSL from a project-centric HR consulting and recruitment provider into a scalable, high-performance organization offering diversified, technology-powered HR solutions.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive set of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership to drive organizational success. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement across all functions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives, optimize resources, and foster innovation while maintaining high standards of accountability and performance. Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to support informed decision-making. Serve as a liaison between departments, stakeholders, and external partners to facilitate seamless communication and project execution. Ensure adherence to industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards while promoting a culture of transparency, collaboration, and professional growth.

The ideal candidate will undertake the following responsibilities:

Developing annual business plans, revenue targets, operating plans, and performance dashboards that align with AMSL’s growth strategy.

Responsible for driving revenue expansion across a diverse portfolio of HR services, including consulting, recruitment, payroll outsourcing, HR outsourcing, training, HR technology, salary surveys, and employer-of-record solutions.

Developing a robust commercial infrastructure entails establishing and managing sales pipelines, overseeing key account relationships, monitoring tender processes, crafting compelling proposals, and fostering strategic partnerships.

Transforming AMSL’s services into structured, market-ready solutions involves establishing clear parameters for scope, pricing, timelines, standardized templates, and delivery benchmarks.

Developing robust operational frameworks that encompass project management, quality assurance, client success initiatives, service-level benchmarks, and performance reporting mechanisms.

Expanding recurring revenue streams via payroll solutions, HR outsourcing services, HRMS/ATS subscription models, retainer-based agreements, training initiatives, and salary data offerings.

Assisting in the commercialization of AMSL’s HR technology platforms, such as ATS, HRMS, payroll, and HR data solutions.

Enhancing recruitment and executive search functions by bolstering sector-specific desks, expanding talent pipelines, refining candidate databases, and fortifying client retention strategies.

Driving the growth and enhancement of exceptional teams across key functions such as business development, consulting, recruitment, payroll, training, technology, research, and operations.

Monitoring financial performance, assessing project profitability and margins, managing debtors, identifying operational risks, and ensuring adherence to compliance standards.

Facilitating strategic collaborations for talent mobility, employer-of-record solutions, and expansion initiatives across East Africa and international markets.

Must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a related role is mandatory, along with proficiency in industry-standard software and tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential to thrive in this position. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines consistently. Familiarity with project management methodologies and prior leadership experience are highly advantageous.

The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Technology, Organizational Development, or a related discipline is required.

A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Strategy, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, Finance, or a related discipline is highly desirable.

Seasoned professionals with a minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive leadership experience are required, including at least five years in a senior management capacity.

Demonstrated success in expanding a business unit, professional services firm, HR outsourcing company, recruitment agency, payroll service provider, consulting organization, BPO provider, SaaS/technology-enabled enterprise, or regional services organization.

With a proven track record in driving revenue expansion, cultivating business opportunities, overseeing operational workflows, nurturing key client relationships, and guiding high-performing teams.

Proficiency in areas such as HR consulting, recruitment, payroll, outsourcing, training, HR technology, or professional services is highly beneficial.

Proficiency in international or regional business operations will be regarded as a valuable asset.

Demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability to dynamic environments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for fostering collaborative relationships and engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Ensuring adherence to project delivery schedules, maintaining high levels of client satisfaction, and strictly complying with quality assurance standards are critical priorities.

Profitability, gross margins, debtor management, and operational efficiency are key areas of focus for this role. Responsibilities include overseeing financial performance to ensure robust profitability, analyzing and optimizing gross margins, managing debtor accounts to minimize risk and enhance cash flow, and implementing strategies to improve overall operational efficiency across the organization.

Design and implementation of organizational frameworks, standard operating procedures, performance tracking tools, and analytical dashboards for the business unit are required.
