CHAI Kenya is seeking a highly skilled technical expert to collaborate with the WEAPON project team, focusing on the execution of medical liquid oxygen systems. This role will involve overseeing the construction of concrete plinths, as well as the installation and commissioning of cryogenic bulk liquid oxygen storage tanks within selected Kenyan healthcare facilities, which are currently at different phases of implementation.

The Technical Assistant will undertake various duties, including but not limited to the following:
Technical planning and design review encompasses the comprehensive assessment and validation of engineering designs and plans to ensure they meet specified requirements, standards, and regulatory compliance. This process involves meticulous evaluation of technical specifications, feasibility studies, risk assessments, and performance metrics to identify potential issues, optimize efficiency, and mitigate risks. Analyze and interpret site layouts and engineering drawings specifically related to cryogenic liquid oxygen (LOX) installations.
Liaise with both the installation contractor and facility management to finalize and confirm delivery and installation schedules.
Conduct thorough evaluations of risk assessments pertaining to installation procedures and verify adherence to regulatory standards and organizational protocols.
Ensure compliance with the CGA code of practice CP 36 standards for the storage of cryogenic liquids at user premises.

Responsibilities include verifying pressure ratings, conducting thorough inspections, and performing any necessary adjustments to guarantee optimal performance and safety throughout the installation process.
Oversee the technical execution and ensure compliance with specifications throughout the installation and deployment of cryogenic liquid oxygen storage tanks.
Oversee the installation of medical oxygen cryogenic tanks, including vaporizers and control panels, in healthcare facilities, ensuring proper lifting, positioning, anchoring, and interconnection with existing pipelines.
Verify the operational integrity of safety relief valves, pressure gauges, level indicators, and isolation valves, ensuring they meet required performance standards and safety protocols.
Oversee the installation of medical oxygen pipeline systems in healthcare facilities, ensuring full compliance with the specifications outlined in Health Technical Memorandum 01-UK.
Collaborate with biomedical and engineering personnel at the facility throughout the installation process.
Responsible for overseeing the commissioning and handover processes, ensuring all systems, equipment, and installations meet specified performance standards and operational requirements. This includes verifying functionality, conducting tests, and coordinating with stakeholders to finalize project delivery. Ensures seamless transition of assets to end-users with comprehensive documentation, training, and support for ongoing operations.
Facilitate the commissioning process by overseeing initial filling, conducting leak and pressure tests, and performing functional checks of the LOX system.
Monitor system operations to ensure they conform to established benchmarks, including flow rates, delivery pressures, and purity levels.
Facility staff will receive on-site training covering the safe operation, monitoring, and emergency procedures for cryogenic LOX systems.
Compile comprehensive handover documentation, comprising operations and maintenance manuals, in a formalized format.
