Job Summary
Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility in Lavinia County, is seeking a skilled Optical Technician to contribute to our commitment to quality optical services. In this role, you will dispense optical products, perform precise fittings and repairs of eyewear, conduct essential optical measurements, and deliver outstanding customer care to all patients. Oversee and execute critical duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership to drive organizational success and ensure alignment with business objectives. Interpret and provide dispensing services for prescriptions authorized by Optometrists or Ophthalmologists.
Assist clients in choosing suitable frames, lenses, and optical accessories to meet their visual needs and preferences.
Ensure precise measurements are captured, including pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and frame fitting specifications.
Examine, calibrate, and restore spectacles and other optical equipment to optimal condition, ensuring precise alignment and functionality.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records for frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies.
Before dispensing, meticulously receive, inspect, and verify optical orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications.
Ensure that all optical equipment and tools remain in optimal condition by maintaining cleanliness, functionality, and proper upkeep.
Maintain precise documentation of patient information and medication dispensing in strict adherence to hospital-established protocols.
Oversee stock-taking and procurement activities for optical supplies to ensure inventory accuracy and timely replenishment.
Follow all Infection Prevention and Control protocols diligently while ensuring the workspace remains consistently clean and hygienic.
Engage in initiatives aimed at enhancing quality standards within the optical department.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as finance, accounting, or business administration, is required. A minimum of three years of professional experience in a similar role is necessary. Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills are essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent communication skills, are critical. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities is a must. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and audit procedures is advantageous.
Earned a Diploma or Certificate in Optical Technology or Optician from an accredited institution.
Professional registration with the pertinent regulatory body, as applicable, is required.
A minimum of one to two years of practical experience in an optical clinic, hospital, or eyewear retail environment is highly beneficial.
Proficiency in optical lenses, frames, and contact lenses, as well as expertise in dispensing procedures, is required.
Required competencies include a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a closely related field, along with at least five years of progressive experience in financial analysis or a similar role. Strong proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting is essential, as is the ability to interpret complex financial data and generate actionable insights. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are also critical, enabling collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to drive informed decision-making. Prior experience with ERP systems, advanced Excel (including pivot tables and macros), and data visualization tools is preferred.
Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in customer service and interpersonal interactions, ensuring seamless communication and relationship-building with clients and colleagues alike.
