Job Summary
Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility located in Lavinia County, is dedicated to delivering excellence through its core values of Quality, Efficiency, Professionalism, and Compassion. We are currently seeking an Optical Technician to support the provision of superior optical services, which include dispensing optical products, fitting and repairing eyewear, performing basic optical measurements, and maintaining outstanding patient care standards.
Oversee the execution of core duties essential to the role, including the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with organizational objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of processes and foster a culture of accountability and innovation. Manage daily operations to optimize efficiency, maintain high standards of quality, and drive continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making. Serve as a liaison between leadership and operational teams to ensure alignment with company goals while addressing challenges proactively. Additionally, monitor performance metrics to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and enhance overall productivity and effectiveness.
Interpret and accurately fulfill prescriptions provided by Optometrists or Ophthalmologists.
Help clients choose suitable frames, lenses, and optical accessories tailored to their individual needs and preferences.
Accurately record essential measurements, including pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and frame fitting specifications.
Inspect, calibrate, and perform necessary adjustments and repairs on eyeglasses and other optical equipment to ensure optimal functionality and precision.
Responsible for maintaining precise inventory records of frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies.
Diligently review, inspect, and validate optical orders to ensure complete accuracy prior to dispensing.
Maintain optical equipment and tools in a clean, operational, and well-maintained condition.
Ensure patient and dispensing records are meticulously maintained in strict adherence to the hospital’s established policies and procedures.
Assist in conducting inventory counts and managing procurement tasks for optical equipment and supplies.
Comply with all Infection Prevention and Control protocols while ensuring a consistently sanitized and orderly workspace.
Engage in various initiatives aimed at enhancing quality standards and operational efficiency within the optical department.
Candidates must satisfy the following baseline requirements to be considered for the role. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in a related industry, and demonstrate proficiency with industry-standard software tools. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities are essential, along with the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Prior leadership or project management experience is preferred but not mandatory.
A recognized institution must award either a Diploma or Certificate in Optical Technology or Optician.
Registration with the appropriate professional organization, where applicable, is required.
A minimum of one to two years of experience in an optical clinic, hospital, or eyewear retail environment is highly beneficial.
Proficiency in optical lenses, frames, contact lenses, and dispensing protocols is required.
