Our client, a premier Events Management Company headquartered in Nairobi, is looking to appoint a skilled Accountant. This individual will oversee the company’s financial functions, guaranteeing precise financial reporting, adherence to regulations, efficient cash flow management, and robust internal controls. The role will assist leadership in making informed business decisions while advancing the company’s financial and operational goals.

Oversee the primary functions and obligations associated with the position, ensuring all tasks are executed in accordance with established protocols and organizational standards. Craft precise and prompt financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and management reports, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

Oversee cash flow management and enhance liquidity to ensure alignment with operational and project needs.

Develop and execute strategic initiatives to optimize working capital by harmonizing accounts receivable and payable processes.

Perform comprehensive financial analyses and cost evaluations to uncover potential avenues for reducing expenditures and enhancing operational efficiency.

Devise and execute strategies to minimize potential financial risks, ensuring robust safeguards are in place to protect organizational assets and stability.

Guarantee adherence to every legal requirement, specifically fulfilling tax obligations and submitting necessary documentation to authorized bodies.

Oversee accounts receivable operations and facilitate prompt collection of outstanding debts to maintain financial health and cash flow efficiency.

Responsibilities include managing monthly invoicing processes, performing reconciliations, and monitoring revenue tracking activities.

Oversee accounts payable processes to maintain positive relationships with creditors by processing payments promptly and capitalizing on settlement discounts whenever feasible.

Compile management reports and financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Ensure accurate reconciliation of bank statements and oversee the management of transactions with efficiency and precision.

Cultivate and sustain robust partnerships with banking institutions and other key financial stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and mutual growth.

Assist in the preparation and management of budgets, financial forecasts, and strategic planning initiatives.

Address inquiries related to financial matters from both internal teams and external partners promptly and accurately.

Ensure meticulous preparation and upkeep of financial records and supporting documentation to facilitate audits and ensure adherence to regulatory compliance standards.

Provide support during both internal and external audits, and execute necessary recommendations as required.

Ensure smooth operations of all finance-related functions within the organization.

Enhance and oversee internal control frameworks to ensure the protection of company assets.

Job Specifications and Qualifications

A recognized university must award a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, Commerce, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.

Professional qualification requirements include holding the CPA (K) designation or being a CPA Finalist.

A minimum of five years of practical, demonstrated experience in accounting and finance is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in events, hospitality, service, or related sectors.

Demonstrates extensive proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, and statutory compliance requirements.

Proven expertise in utilizing accounting software platforms, including QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel, as well as various Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Requires a strong command of Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Applicants possessing a valid Certificate of Good Conduct will be considered favorably.
