The performance of the Accounting & Finance Associate plays a pivotal role in optimizing resource utilization, ensuring precise financial recording, accounting, and reporting. This foundation supports strong management oversight, informed decision-making, and rigorous quality control across financial operations.

Responsible for overseeing key functions and delivering on core accountabilities, this role requires executing critical tasks with precision and accountability. The incumbent will be tasked with managing essential responsibilities that drive operational efficiency and contribute to organizational success. By fulfilling these duties, the position ensures alignment with strategic objectives while maintaining a high standard of performance. Additionally, the role demands adherence to established protocols and the ability to meet established benchmarks consistently.

Responsibilities include compiling and preparing financial reports, gathering and analyzing data, and addressing queries to uphold compliance and ensure accuracy in financial documentation.

Serves as the Local Finance Focal Point, responsible for thorough review and validation of invoices, ensuring accuracy in calculations, and timely submission of documents to the Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC).

Oversee financial documentation by systematically tracking and verifying expenditures, balances, and payment activities to ensure accuracy in daily transactions.

Data management duties involve sourcing, validating, and inputting information extracted from various origins, with a strong emphasis on maintaining thoroughness and precision throughout the process.

Prepare recurring and ad-hoc reports to support audits, budgets, and other operational requirements as scheduled.

Provide support for account closure procedures and assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements.

Provide expert counsel to staff and consultants regarding allowances, reimbursements, and related financial concerns.

Initiate communication to verify information and resolve any discrepancies as part of correspondence and inquiries management.

We are seeking a Bank Liaison to cultivate and sustain strong relationships with local banking institutions, track and analyze exchange rate fluctuations, and meticulously prepare financial reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Budget Support involves developing cost estimates and actively participating in budget analysis and project initiatives.

To qualify for the role of championing every child, you will need to demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all children. You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, families, and stakeholders. Additionally, you must have a deep understanding of child development and the factors that contribute to their safety and success. Experience in childcare, education, or a related field is highly desirable, as is familiarity with relevant safeguarding policies and procedures. Your ability to build trust, manage sensitive situations, and advocate for children’s rights and needs will be essential in this position.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Additionally, candidates must possess at least three years of hands-on experience in software development, with proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Familiarity with agile methodologies and version control systems is preferred. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.

A secondary education credential is a mandatory prerequisite for this opportunity.

A minimum of six years of hands-on experience in finance and accounting is essential for this role.

Capable of developing and overseeing project plans, objectives, and deliverables while monitoring resources such as time, budget, and team efforts, and proactively identifying potential risks. Skilled in data analysis to detect issues and deliver data-driven recommendations for informed decision-making. Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing digital tools, AI-driven platforms, and business systems to enhance data quality and reporting processes.

Proficiency in English is essential for this role.

Desirables:

Proficiency in an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or the local language of the duty station is advantageous.

A strong background in finance and accounting obtained through professional development or university-level coursework is preferred.

Experience gained at the national level, especially in development initiatives, fragile environments, and humanitarian settings, is highly beneficial.
