Job Summary

Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility in Lavinia County, is hiring an Optical Technician to support the delivery of exceptional optical services. In this role, you will dispense optical products, perform fittings and repairs on eyewear, conduct fundamental optical measurements, and maintain high standards in patient care. Oversee a comprehensive array of critical tasks, ensuring adherence to organizational objectives and maintaining high standards of operational excellence. Develop, implement, and monitor strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and foster innovation across the team. Collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to align efforts, resolve challenges, and drive cohesive decision-making. Lead performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and mentor team members to cultivate talent and maximize individual contributions. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and best practices while mitigating risks and optimizing resource allocation.

Accurately assess and provide medications as directed by prescriptions from Optometrists or Ophthalmologists.

Provide patients with guidance in choosing suitable frames, lenses, and optical accessories to meet their individual needs and preferences.

Accurately measure pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and frame fitting measurements to ensure precision in optical specifications.

Examine, calibrate, and restore spectacles and other optical instruments while ensuring their optimal functionality and precision.

Responsible for accurately documenting and updating inventory records pertaining to frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies.

Thoroughly review and validate optical orders to ensure precision prior to dispensing.

Maintain optical equipment and tools in a clean, functional state through regular upkeep and proper care.

Ensure patient and dispensing records are maintained with precision and in strict compliance with the hospital’s established policies.

Support stock-taking and procurement activities for optical supplies, ensuring accurate inventory management and timely acquisition of necessary materials.

Consistently follow established Infection Prevention and Control protocols while ensuring the workspace remains orderly and hygienic.

Contribute to quality enhancement initiatives and process optimizations as part of the optical department’s continuous improvement efforts.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a closely related field, along with three to five years of relevant professional experience. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in software development methodologies, data analysis techniques, and project management tools. Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative mindset are essential. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, compliance standards, and emerging technologies is highly desirable. The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to cross-functional teams is required.

Holders of a Diploma or Certificate in Optical Technology or Optician from an accredited institution are encouraged to apply.

Professional registration with the appropriate regulatory body, where applicable, is required.

With a minimum of one to two years of practical experience within an optical clinic, hospital, or eyewear retail environment, candidates will be viewed favorably.

Proficiency in optical lenses, frames, contact lenses, and dispensing protocols is required.
