Our client, a rapidly expanding mid-sized freight forwarding firm based in Nairobi, specializes in air and sea cargo logistics from major global hubs, including Dubai, Guangzhou, London, Milan, Johannesburg, Istanbul, and Amsterdam. With a monthly volume of 80–100 tonnes of air freight—encompassing both commercial and personal consignments—and the consistent handling of one 40ft container daily, the company ensures full end-to-end supply chain visibility, from warehouse receipt and customs clearance to final delivery.

Our client is in search of a visionary and seasoned Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to assume complete operational oversight, enhance their organizational processes, and spearhead their upcoming growth initiatives.

Overseeing a comprehensive range of duties and obligations, the position entails executing essential tasks that drive organizational success. The role requires diligently performing responsibilities aligned with strategic objectives, ensuring seamless operational workflows and fostering collaborative partnerships across departments. Accountability for key deliverables, adherence to established protocols, and proactive problem-solving remain central to the position’s expectations. Additionally, the incumbent must possess the requisite qualifications, expertise, and professional acumen to fulfill these obligations effectively while contributing to the broader mission of the organization.

Duties include overseeing all seven operational divisions, specifically the sales, customer service, transport, marketing, call center, warehouse, and operations departments.

Achieve a 20 to 30 percent increase in revenue year-over-year while simultaneously enhancing profit margins.

Deliver an exceptional client experience by expediting resolutions for delays, breakages, and claims.

Responsible for managing air freight operations, sea container logistics, warehousing activities, transportation networks, and customs clearance procedures.

Develop and nurture robust international partnerships while deploying advanced technology solutions to enhance tracking capabilities and operational efficiency.

Seeking a candidate with strong academic credentials and relevant professional expertise. The ideal applicant will hold the necessary educational qualifications and possess substantial career experience to excel in this role.

We seek a candidate with a decade to fifteen years of hands-on experience in freight forwarding and logistics, demonstrating particular expertise in air freight and containerized sea freight operations.

With a minimum of five years of experience in senior leadership positions—such as General Manager, Director, or Chief Executive Officer—candidates must have held roles with direct accountability for profit and loss management.

Demonstrates a strong history of delivering exceptional client service and driving operational enhancements in logistics operations.

Proficient in navigating the Kenyan and East African regulatory frameworks, including those governed by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Ports Authority (PA), and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEYS).

A bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related discipline is required, while an MBA or certifications such as CULT or FIAT would provide additional value to the role.
