Role Description

This full-time position requires an on-site Loan Officer to be stationed in Nairobi County, Kenya. The primary responsibilities include thorough evaluation of loan applications, performing detailed credit assessments, underwriting loans, and strictly adhering to established lending policies. Building and maintaining robust customer relationships will be essential, alongside delivering outstanding service at every stage of the loan process to guarantee customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the Loan Officer will work closely with colleagues to facilitate prompt loan disbursement and optimize portfolio management.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. At least three years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a financial service or fintech environment, is essential. Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and proficiency with tools such as Excel, SQL, and ERP systems are necessary. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are also required. Ability to manage complex financial projects, meet tight deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team setting is expected. Knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management principles is a plus.

Accomplished professionals with a proven track record in microfinance lending are sought. Demonstrated expertise in this specialized lending sector is essential, ensuring the ability to assess and manage risks associated with small-scale financial services. Prior hands-on experience in this domain is required to effectively navigate the unique challenges inherent in microfinance operations.
