Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and operational standards. Manage key tasks including strategic planning, process optimization, and performance monitoring to drive efficiency and productivity. Collaborate across teams to implement initiatives, address challenges, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Uphold compliance with policies, regulations, and quality benchmarks while maintaining meticulous documentation and reporting. Provide leadership in decision-making, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement to support sustainable growth and innovation.

The intern will assist with active initiatives in data analytics and digital solutions, contributing to the development and enhancement of a foresight platform as well as its associated analytical processes. Responsibilities will encompass:

Facilitates the creation of frameworks and systematic approaches for investigating emerging environmental challenges.

Researching data sources, environmental factors, and emerging issues forms a critical part of this role.

We support the maintenance and enhancement of the database by contributing to its organization and expansion.

We assist in gathering, evaluating, and prioritizing evidence to ensure comprehensive and accurate analysis. This role involves compiling relevant data, critically assessing its validity and relevance, and systematically ranking it to support informed decision-making and robust conclusions.

Supporting the documentation of data processes, workflows, and methodologies, you will play a key role in compiling and refining technical inputs for reports, presentations, and briefs. This includes ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in the materials prepared to facilitate informed decision-making.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, equivalent professional experience. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++. Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering scalable software solutions. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies. Demonstrated leadership in driving technical projects to completion.

We welcome candidates who fulfill at least one of the following criteria:

Candidates must either be currently enrolled in or have successfully completed a graduate-level academic program, such as a second university degree or an equivalent qualification, or hold a higher-level credential.

You must either be currently enrolled in or have successfully completed the final academic year of an undergraduate university degree program, which requires at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

Proficient in utilizing standard computer software applications is required.

Demonstrated a strong passion for the United Nations’ mission and a deep dedication to upholding the principles outlined in the Charter.

Candidates must demonstrate a proven ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals, valuing cultural differences and embracing varied perspectives with openness and tolerance. A degree in Environmental Science, Data Science, Statistics, Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Development, or a closely related discipline is essential.

Applicants for the UN Internship Program do not need prior professional work experience.

A relevant academic discipline closely associated with the internship you are pursuing is mandatory.

Applicants must either be enrolled in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent), a master’s or Ph.D. program (or equivalent), or have already completed a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program. Proficient in conducting thorough scientific literature reviews and evaluating information sources with a discerning eye for credibility and relevance.

Proficiency in fundamental environmental science principles is required. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to consolidate information and produce well-structured, succinct reports.
