Our client, a distinguished law firm based in Nairobi, Kenya, is recruiting a Commercial and Conveyancing Advocate to operate from its Nairobi office. The preferred candidate will demonstrate unwavering integrity, a strong work ethic, and the capacity to work autonomously with minimal oversight, alongside exceptional communication abilities and self-driven motivation.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Responsibilities include managing key projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and maintaining adherence to established policies and procedures. Additionally, the role demands meticulous attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and compliance verification. The position requires the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently, troubleshoot challenges, and drive continuous process improvements. Perform comprehensive due diligence assessments for conveyancing transactions, draft precise sale agreements, compile completion documentation, and oversee the accurate registration of all relevant legal documents.

Dedicated to safeguarding client interests, the role involves thorough research and ongoing client communication.

Perform comprehensive investigations to ascertain legal property ownership by meticulously reviewing government land registry documents or title deeds, particularly when no registered owner exists.

Draft and finalize property lease agreements, and coordinate with all parties to secure contract signatures by the agreed-upon transfer date.

Ensure meticulous and expedited management of all client-related matters across the Lands Registry, Local Authorities, the Survey of Kenya, and the National Lands Commission.

The role involves collaborating with clients and essential stakeholders, including mortgage lenders, estate agents, land valuers, and surveyors.

Drafting and issuing terms of engagement as well as detailed estimates for fees and disbursements.

Provide support in conducting due diligence and addressing intellectual property considerations within contracts, agreements, and other transactional matters.

Responsibilities include the preparation of stamp duty payments and the registration of documents across multiple registries.

Obtain necessary clearance certificates and consents as required for the project or task.

Serves as an intermediary between the Land Registry and various government departments, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, complemented by a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in software development. Familiarity with version control systems like Git and experience with Agile methodologies are required. With a minimum of three to four years of post-admission experience within a fast-paced commercial law firm or department, you will possess a strong focus on Conveyancing, Real Estate, and projects, alongside expertise in Banking Securities and Commercial Law.
