Position Summary

The ADT Africa Regional Partner possesses extensive knowledge in private equity within emerging markets, with a strong focus on regulated financial institutions pioneering innovative digital financial services tailored for MSMEs, smallholder farmers, and underserved households.

A strong candidate will demonstrate hands-on experience in applying technology to drive growth within financial institutions, working closely with ADT’s Operating Partner, Action Advisory, Action’s financial inclusion advisory team, and other strategic partners to craft tailored digitization strategies. Additionally, the role involves engaging with portfolio company shareholders, boards, and executive teams to foster alignment and ensure successful implementation of these strategies.

The Africa Regional Partner may oversee an Investment Analyst, tailoring oversight to the portfolio size and regional opportunities. Investments in Africa are anticipated to account for approximately 25% of total investible capital, potentially encompassing co-investments by limited partners.

This role encompasses a diverse range of duties, including the oversight of daily operations, the management of team performance, and the implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance productivity. Key responsibilities involve coordinating cross-functional projects, ensuring adherence to company policies, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Additionally, the position requires maintaining strong client relationships, analyzing operational metrics to identify areas for improvement, and driving continuous process optimization. Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and exceptional communication skills are essential to meet both short-term objectives and long-term organizational goals.

The Africa Regional Partner will collaborate closely with the Managing Partners to oversee the entire investment lifecycle for the Africa portfolio, spanning from deal origination and execution to exit. Additionally, the role will involve providing global support to the team as required. Key responsibilities within the investment process include:

Evaluating potential equity investment opportunities that align with ADT’s dedication to impact investing and its strategic emphasis on digital transformation.

Developing and managing comprehensive financial models, projections, and valuations to evaluate equity investment and divestment prospects while providing detailed reports to limited partners.

Conducting comprehensive deal analysis and delivering investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.

Orchestrating deal negotiations and finalizing agreements, including drafting and managing legal documentation, while ensuring strict adherence to ESG policies throughout the process.

Responsible for overseeing the equity portfolio, as well as designing and implementing strategic exit plans for portfolio companies in a commercially viable manner.

Collaborate with the digital transformation team to craft and execute a digitization strategy aimed at enhancing value creation for potential target companies.

You will deliver strategic assistance to portfolio companies by cultivating strategic partnerships, securing new debt and equity financing, and contributing to key strategic decisions, with a particular emphasis on ESG and digital transformation initiatives.

As needed, you will serve as a representative of ADT on the boards of portfolio companies, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and governance standards.

Develop and cultivate co-investment consortia while fostering robust partnerships with co-investors.

Offer continuous assistance to the Operations and Finance teams regarding portfolio company valuation and reporting processes.

Collaborate effectively with Managing Partners to cultivate a compelling brand and foster a cohesive organizational culture, ensuring AIM consistently upholds industry-leading standards.

Facilitate investor relations activities and conduct thorough due diligence assessments for prospective investors.

Represent AIM within the Africa market and on a global scale, engaging in professional growth initiatives and knowledge dissemination both externally and, as needed, with Action.

Seeking a highly motivated individual to fill this critical role, we require candidates with substantial experience in relevant fields, complemented by robust educational qualifications. The ideal applicant should demonstrate proven proficiency in key responsibilities, including strategic planning, team leadership, and operational execution. Essential qualifications include a minimum of five years’ hands-on experience, along with advanced technical or industry-specific skills. Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication, and the capacity to deliver measurable results are fundamental prerequisites for success in this position.

With over 15 years of specialized experience in private equity investments, the ideal candidate will possess a deep expertise in financial institutions and fintech sectors, alongside a proven ability to originate, lead, and successfully exit deals across Africa.

Professionals should possess comprehensive knowledge of the financial services and fintech sectors, with a focus on operating models, regulatory frameworks, and competitive landscapes within African markets.

Demonstrates a track record of successfully developing and implementing regional investment strategies, encompassing the creation of proprietary pipelines, the recognition of emerging investment themes, and the alignment of investment initiatives with overarching organizational goals and desired impact outcomes.

With a proven track record of collaborating with financial institutions to foster value creation, this role focuses on crafting and executing digital strategies aimed at advancing financial inclusion, paired with a deep grasp of innovative solutions in this space; prior entrepreneurial involvement is considered advantageous.

Proven track record in guiding and impacting board and senior management decisions, providing expert counsel on strategic initiatives, expansion efforts, and transformative operational improvements.

Advanced analytical acumen and investment expertise are required, complemented by a strong track record in leading comprehensive due diligence processes, transaction structuring, and portfolio management to achieve measurable financial returns alongside meaningful impact objectives.

A proven capacity to cultivate and activate networks among colleagues, stakeholders, and key decision-makers is essential, enabling the identification of opportunities and the delivery of impactful outcomes.

Demonstrated leadership ability is evidenced by prior experience in mentoring and nurturing investment professionals, as well as fostering a high-performance, collaborative team culture across multiple geographic locations.

Operational independence with the capacity to collaborate seamlessly across a global, matrixed organizational structure is essential.

A dynamic communicator with a commanding executive presence, adept at engaging and persuading a wide range of stakeholders while serving as an ambassador for the ADT team and AIM externally. Demonstrated success in crafting and presenting high-level presentations and investment materials to senior audiences.

A master’s degree in business or finance is required for this role.
