The PR & Communications Associate will play a key role in advancing Prudential Kenya’s public relations and communications strategy by cultivating strong media connections, crafting compelling content, fostering internal engagement, organizing PR events, and contributing to crisis and reputational risk mitigation efforts.

This position will uphold and elevate the Prudential brand by facilitating cohesive, punctual, and regulation-compliant communications across every internal and external interaction.

Principal Accountabilities

Responsible for cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with media outlets to enhance brand visibility and reputation, this role involves crafting compelling press releases, coordinating interviews, and managing crisis communications. Additionally, the position requires overseeing public relations strategies to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms, addressing inquiries from journalists, and analyzing media coverage trends to refine outreach efforts. Strong interpersonal skills, exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, and a proven track record in media engagement are essential. Proficiency in public relations tools and platforms, along with the capacity to work under tight deadlines, is also required. Experience in developing impactful PR campaigns and a deep understanding of media landscapes are highly valued.

Compose, refine, and assist in the development and delivery of press releases, media statements, op-eds, and contributed articles to secure earned media placements.

Assist in organizing media interviews by developing briefing notes, crafting key messages, and preparing Q&A documents.

Forge and nurture professional connections with journalists, editors, and key media stakeholders across pertinent platforms.

Monitor daily media coverage, track sentiment and emerging issues, and escalate potential reputational risks appropriately.

We are seeking a skilled professional to oversee content creation and manage content strategies, ensuring high-quality, engaging material is consistently produced and distributed. This role involves developing content plans, crafting compelling narratives, and optimizing content for various platforms to maximize reach and impact. Additionally, the position requires overseeing content calendars, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and monitoring performance metrics to refine and enhance content strategies over time.

Craft engaging and informative content for newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, website updates, and corporate publications, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with brand standards.

Collaborate on the development and strategic scheduling of content for Prudential Kenya’s social media channels, ensuring alignment with the brand’s established tone and guidelines.

Maintain an organized content repository and assist with the communications calendar to guarantee the punctual delivery of materials.

Internal Communication and Brand Compliance

Support the creation and dissemination of internal communications such as employee newsletters, staff announcements, and leadership messages.

Ensure communications align with Prudential’s brand guidelines, tone of voice, and governance requirements by conducting thorough brand compliance reviews.

Coordinate internal approvals and version control for communication materials.

This role involves coordinating various logistical aspects to ensure seamless execution of events and PR campaigns. Key responsibilities include managing event setups, handling vendor communications, overseeing transportation arrangements, and maintaining detailed records of all activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively under tight deadlines. Proficiency in communication tools and familiarity with PR strategies are essential for success in this position.

Provide assistance in organizing and managing press conferences, media briefings, webinars, public relations events, and stakeholder engagements to ensure seamless execution.

Provide support for event logistics, manage the coordination of invitations, track media attendance, and compile post-event reports.

Collaborate effectively with external partners and cross-functional teams to guarantee the flawless implementation of PR initiatives.

Proficiency in written English is required, while fluency in Swahili is considered a valuable asset.
