Oversee and execute a range of responsibilities to ensure operational excellence, including strategic planning, team leadership, and process optimization. Accountable for driving performance metrics, fostering collaboration across departments, and maintaining compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations. Responsible for managing budgets, resource allocation, and stakeholder communications to align with business objectives. Additionally, monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Engage in the formulation and execution of CFS’s strategic initiatives in close collaboration with regional WBG teams, prioritizing WBG’s strategic objectives across the Africa region.

EMP/M&A Advisory: Partnering with regional leaders to spearhead the development and completion of buy-side and sell-side advisory mandates, restructuring initiatives, and EMP services across the Africa region.

Responsibilities include spearheading the origination and execution of strategic pre-IPO advisory mandates across five regions. This involves guiding teams in advising clients on critical aspects such as listing processes, strategic timing, regulatory compliance, and key considerations. Additionally, the role encompasses evaluating and advising on current corporate and balance sheet structures, valuation methodologies, and business planning strategies. Responsibilities also include developing comprehensive timelines for listing initiatives, broker selection, and prospectus review, as well as preparing management and the board for the listing process. Furthermore, the position entails providing advisory services through the corporate governance group.

Relationships with internal regional and industry counterparts across Africa’s regions are cultivated to foster collaboration opportunities that advance business development and delivery, ensuring alignment with IFC’s corporate objectives.

Collaborate with clients across multiple regions and internal stakeholders to devise tailored transaction strategies and evaluate bankability. Conduct feasibility studies on funding options, perform financial modelling, and assist in business planning and restructuring initiatives.

Responsible for preparing high-level summaries of critical transaction documentation, including marketing materials for individual deals, information memorandum, due diligence reports, transaction structuring analyses, and finalized contracts and agreements.

Mentorship responsibilities include providing guidance and support to junior colleagues to facilitate their attainment of business objectives.

Corporate Initiative: Championing IFC’s “brand” within the Corporate Finance Solutions (CFS) domain, leveraging IFC’s established regional brand and aligning with its overarching communications strategy.

Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas, along with relevant work experience:

A Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, or consulting, supplemented by at least 12 to 15 years of relevant experience, is required. Candidates with a multidisciplinary background spanning two or more of these fields will be given preference.

With extensive expertise in equity transactions, gained through roles such as principal investor, advisor, or underwriter—whether within investment banks, venture capital firms, or private equity institutions.

Seeking professionals with transaction advisory expertise across buy-side mandates, sell-side mandates, and restructuring mandates, ideally within the disruptive technology sector.

Proven ability to consistently achieve specific outcomes on Mergers & Acquisitions, Restructuring, and Initial Public Offering engagements, even within demanding schedules and high-pressure circumstances.

Demonstrated expertise in cultivating and sustaining robust client partnerships while effectively managing mandates across international jurisdictions and challenging operational contexts.

A proven track record in guiding companies through initial public offerings (IPOs) on prominent global stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, is highly desirable.

Demonstrates a proven ability to achieve business objectives, possesses extensive investment expertise, exercises sound business decision-making, and maintains a respected professional reputation.

Proven ability to collaborate seamlessly within a distributed team while thriving in fast-paced, multicultural settings, demonstrating strong interpersonal and adaptive skills.

Demonstrates exceptional collaboration abilities, employing advanced facilitation techniques and strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with teams and stakeholders.
