What you’ll do:

As the University Guidance Counselor, you will be instrumental in steering students toward their academic aspirations by navigating them through the university admissions journey and equipping them for future achievements. Your primary duties will encompass:

Guide students seamlessly through each phase of the university application journey, from identifying suitable institutions to successfully securing scholarships, leveraging in-depth knowledge of international pathways and the specific prerequisites of the British Curriculum.

Collaborate seamlessly with educators, parents, school administrators, and academic departments to track student development and provide well-informed recommendations.

Enhancing Extracurricular Opportunities: Design and implement programs aimed at broadening students’ academic engagement while curating and facilitating career-focused events, interactive workshops, and personalized guidance sessions to support their professional development.

Developing and nurturing university partnerships is a key responsibility, with a particular focus on institutions in Africa and other global regions. This role involves cultivating strong, collaborative relationships with academic partners while overseeing university application portals and digital resources to enhance engagement and accessibility.

Alumni Engagement: Cultivate and strengthen a robust alumni network to provide ongoing support to both current students and graduates as they navigate their academic pursuits and career development.

A solid understanding of the British Curriculum is essential to provide students with meaningful support in the DISC environment and to assist them in navigating appropriate university pathways.

Exceptional communication and presentation abilities are essential for crafting compelling recommendation letters, advising students and parents, fostering productive relationships with educators and university representatives, and earning the trust and respect of the broader school community.

Proficiency in data management and digital tools is essential for overseeing student application data, monitoring progress, generating reports, and operating digital platforms with efficiency.

A solid understanding of African and international universities enables us to present students with diverse academic pathways, ensuring each individual finds an institution perfectly aligned with their aspirations and needs.

Essential are strong creative and event management abilities to effectively plan and execute career fairs, workshops, and other student-focused enrichment initiatives designed to expand their professional and academic horizons.

A problem-solving mindset is essential for establishing a new university guidance function, tackling challenges, handling a demanding schedule, and assisting families who might have limited familiarity with the university application process.
