The position involves facilitating breeding operations by providing essential support to ensure efficient and successful breeding activities. Responsibilities include assisting with animal care, maintaining breeding records, monitoring reproductive health, and coordinating logistics for breeding programs. The role requires adherence to established protocols, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with veterinary and husbandry teams. Candidates must possess prior experience in animal husbandry or a related field, a strong understanding of breeding principles, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Facilitate the coordination of genetic material across successive breeding stages to support breeding initiatives.

Prepare, label, store, and dispatch materials to facilitate rapid-cycle advancements in workflow.

Maintain meticulous documentation of all breeding materials utilized.

Facilitate the prompt and efficient movement of designated materials across greenhouse, nursery, and breeding pipeline stages.

Cross and seed logistics professionals manage the end-to-end transportation and distribution of agricultural products, ensuring timely and accurate delivery from farms to processing facilities or markets. They oversee inventory control, coordinate shipping schedules, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards for handling and transporting seeds and grains. Additionally, they troubleshoot logistical challenges, optimize supply chain efficiency, and utilize tracking systems to monitor shipments. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of agricultural regulations are essential for this role.

Prepare and arrange seed packets, crossing kits, envelopes, labels, and other essential materials for breeding operations in an organized and efficient manner.

Provide support in the sorting, packaging, and reconciliation of seeds, as well as facilitating their dispatch for crossing and advancement initiatives.

Maintain accurate tracking of parental lines, cross progenies, and advanced breeding materials to preserve identity and ensure traceability.

Assist in organizing and managing seed inventories and breeding operation materials to ensure a well-maintained and efficient supply system.

Facilitate expedited early-generation cycling processes to accelerate development timelines.

Assist in managing materials derived from accelerated breeding cycles, encompassing early-generation cross progenies and associated advancement materials.

Facilitate the swift and precise transfer of breeding materials between stages to reduce potential delays in the workflow.

Facilitate the compilation and organization of materials required for recurring crossings and progressions within the RCGS framework.

Assist in maintaining consistency of materials throughout breeding cycles and transitions between breeding generations.

The oversight of trial kit distribution and management is required. Responsibility includes ensuring timely delivery and proper allocation of trial materials to designated sites. Additionally, tracking inventory levels, maintaining accurate records, and reporting any discrepancies or shortages are essential duties.

Collaborate with the Trialing Research Associate to assemble trial kits, create labels, prepare materials, and compile necessary documentation for multi-site sparse testing initiatives.

Collaborate effectively with field teams, breeders, and logistics personnel to facilitate the seamless distribution of trial kits to partners.

Maintain comprehensive checklists and inventories to accurately track all kits and dispatched materials.

The role involves maintaining accurate records and documentation, ensuring all data is properly logged and organized for future reference.

Accurately document all aspects of the breeding process, ensuring precise recording of key dates such as crossing, dispatch, and sparse testing. Include additional operational details such as trial planting, harvesting, data return, and material movement.

Maintain accurate documentation of all genetic materials and experiments within the EBS system.

Work collaboratively with breeders to facilitate the timely preparation and seamless movement of selected materials throughout the production pipeline.

Analyze operational performance to identify and address bottlenecks, delays, losses, or material-handling challenges, offering actionable feedback to enhance efficiency.

The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field, coupled with a proven track record of delivering successful projects on time and within budget. A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is essential, while an advanced degree or professional certification is strongly preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools, as well as a commitment to continuous learning and professional development, are also necessary.

A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Crop Science, Seed Science, Plant Breeding, Agronomy, or a related discipline is required.

Experienced professionals with hands-on involvement in seed processing, breeding nursery operations, or agricultural research within expansive plant breeding initiatives are encouraged to apply.

Skilled in providing assistance to breeding initiatives, conducting crossing operations, or managing germplasm logistics.

Proficiency in cultivating dryland crops, including sorghum, pearl millet, and finger millet, is required.
