Assisting in the development and execution of CFS’s strategy, in close collaboration with regional WBG teams, with particular emphasis on advancing WBG’s strategic priorities across the Africa region.

EMP/M&A Advisory: Partner with regional leads to spearhead the origination and execution of buy-side and sell-side advisory mandates, alongside restructuring advisory and EMP services across the Africa region.

Leading origination and execution of strategic pre-IPO advisory mandates across five regions, this role involves guiding clients through the listing process, assessing timing feasibility, navigating regulatory requirements, and addressing critical matters. Responsibilities include evaluating and advising on current corporate and balance sheet structures, valuation strategies, and long-term business planning. Additionally, the position entails developing comprehensive timelines for the listing process, broker selection, and prospectus review, as well as preparing management and the board for the transition. Advisory services extend to corporate governance, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory expectations.

Maintaining robust relationships with internal regional and industry partners across Africa, the incumbent will identify collaborative opportunities to support business growth and delivery, ensuring alignment with IFC’s corporate objectives.

We collaborate closely with international clients and internal teams to assist in crafting transaction strategies, conducting bankability evaluations, assessing funding feasibility, and developing financial models and business plans or restructuring initiatives.

You will prepare and oversee key transaction reports and project documentation, including marketing materials for each transaction, information memorandum, due diligence findings, transaction structuring reports, and final contract and agreement drafts.

Mentorship involves guiding junior team members and supporting them in meeting business objectives through personalized advice and constructive feedback.

Corporate Initiative: Advancing IFC’s “brand” within the CFS sector, leveraging the organization’s regional brand identity and broader communications strategy.

Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the following skills and areas of expertise:

A Master’s degree or an equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, or consulting, coupled with at least 12 to 15 years of hands-on experience in a relevant field, is required. Candidates with a diversified background spanning one or more of these disciplines will be given priority consideration.

With extensive expertise in equity transactions, gained through roles as a principal investor, advisor, or underwriter within investment banks, venture capital firms, or private equity institutions.

Professional candidates will possess prior transaction advisory expertise, with a preference for buy-side, sell-side, and restructuring mandates—particularly those within the disruptive technology sector.

Skilled in achieving specific outcomes for M&A, Restructuring, and IPO engagements amidst tight deadlines and high-pressure settings.

Demonstrated expertise in cultivating robust client partnerships and effectively managing assignments across international boundaries and challenging conditions.

Experience leading companies through initial public offerings on prominent global stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, is highly advantageous.

Proven history of successful business execution, demonstrated expertise in investment management, exceptional commercial acumen, and well-regarded professional reputation.

A collaborative professional with a proven track record of thriving in diverse, multicultural teams, including those operating across multiple locations. Demonstrated expertise in adapting to dynamic work environments and fostering strong teamwork in dispersed settings.
