Reporting to the Head of Employee Relations, Performance & Wellness, this position will play a key role in developing and implementing people strategies aimed at fostering fairness, inclusion, and engagement within the workplace.

This encompasses fostering strong employee relationships, upholding legal standards, overseeing performance evaluations, and supporting a culture rooted in organizational values.

Oversee and execute critical duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational success. Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, optimizing processes, and fostering innovation within the team. Monitor performance metrics, analyze trends, and implement data-driven solutions to achieve key business objectives. Serve as a liaison between departments, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with company goals. Develop and mentor team members through targeted coaching, professional development opportunities, and constructive feedback. Maintain compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and best practices to uphold organizational integrity.

Employee Relations: Foster a positive and productive work environment by addressing employee concerns, mediating disputes, and promoting open communication between staff and management. Develop and implement policies to ensure fair treatment and compliance with labor laws, while advising leadership on best practices for employee engagement and retention strategies. Conduct investigations into workplace conflicts or misconduct, ensuring confidentiality and impartiality. Collaborate with HR and department heads to resolve issues promptly and effectively, minimizing disruption to operations. Maintain accurate records of employee interactions and outcomes to support data-driven decision-making.

Facilitate the creation, analysis, and dissemination of HR policies that comply with Kenyan Labour Laws, applicable regulatory mandates, and the Bank’s established values and governance frameworks.

Oversee employee relations matters, such as disciplinary actions, grievance management, workplace conduct concerns, and appeals, while maintaining fairness, consistency, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards.

Proactively document employee relations cases with precision and auditability, working alongside HR Business Partners and line management to ensure adherence to record-keeping and compliance standards.

Drive organizational transformation efforts, such as restructures or branch realignments, while maintaining high employee engagement, ensuring operational continuity, and upholding regulatory compliance throughout the process.

Deliver prompt, actionable counsel to managers to ensure equitable, uniform, and regulation-compliant resolution of employee issues while mitigating operational and reputational exposure.

Serve as a panel member in disciplinary hearings, guaranteeing compliance with due process, procedural fairness, and accurate documentation in accordance with internal policies and relevant labor laws.

Develop and nurture relationships with employee representatives and workplace committees, ensuring open communication, mutual trust, and collaborative efforts to uphold a productive and regulation-compliant workplace.

Maintain accurate and confidential disciplinary records by proficiently managing the ER tracker, guaranteeing that information is easily accessible for audits and decision-making processes.

Collaborate on the regular assessment and revision of the HR Manual, maintaining its continuous compliance with employment laws, regulatory standards, and emerging trends in the banking industry.

Overseeing and enhancing employee performance through structured evaluation systems, goal setting, and feedback mechanisms to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and continuous professional development.

Efficiently manage the scheduling and dissemination of performance review activities.

Assist employees and managers throughout the performance management cycle to ensure effective evaluation and development.

Monitor and evaluate performance metrics to guarantee that appraisals are conducted punctually and objectives are achieved within established deadlines.

Maintain precise performance metrics and compile detailed performance reports.

Support the establishment of objectives, facilitate the gathering of feedback, and coordinate the necessary arrangements for performance evaluations.

Maintain strict adherence to HR policies while safeguarding confidential information with the utmost integrity.

Employee Wellness initiatives are designed to foster a healthy, balanced, and productive work environment by addressing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. These programs may include comprehensive health screenings, fitness memberships, mental health resources, ergonomic assessments, and nutrition counseling to support overall employee health. Additionally, employers might offer flexible work arrangements, stress management workshops, and wellness challenges to encourage healthy lifestyle choices. The goal is to enhance job satisfaction, reduce absenteeism, and improve long-term employee retention through proactive well-being support.

The incumbent will assist in implementing the Bank’s Employee Wellness Program, coordinating wellness initiatives in alignment with the approved Wellness Calendar. Key responsibilities include collaborating with accredited wellness service providers, organizing activities, fostering staff engagement, and maintaining prompt, professional communication with employees.

Support strategic inclusion and employee engagement initiatives—including diversity forums and employee resource groups—by managing logistics, communications, and feedback systems to strengthen program outcomes and amplify impact.

Facilitate the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives, including end-of-year events and structured forums, designed to foster collaboration, strategic alignment, and a cohesive organizational culture.

Co-create and execute employee recognition initiatives at both the organizational and departmental levels, encompassing formal accolades and peer-driven recognition efforts, to bolster a culture of high performance.

Develop and distribute polished, compelling communications about employee wellness programs, policy revisions, and engagement efforts, ensuring adherence to established internal communication guidelines.

Ensure achievement of established performance objectives that are in line with the Bank’s HR strategy, balanced scorecard, and individual performance targets, thereby driving measurable impact and fostering accountability.

Academic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in education, linguistics, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. A postgraduate qualification in TESOL, applied linguistics, or a comparable field is strongly preferred. Certification in TEFL or TESL is essential, and candidates must hold a valid teaching license or equivalent credential relevant to the jurisdiction. Additional requirements may encompass specialized training in curriculum development, assessment methodologies, or inclusive education practices.

A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a closely related discipline is required.

Professional certifications or affiliations with relevant industry organizations are required. Additionally, a proven track record of publishing work within the field is expected.
