Job Purpose
The Accountant will be tasked with meticulously recording and managing all financial records and transactions within the general ledger, safeguarding the accuracy, dependability, and adherence of AZT’s financial statements to recognized accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this role is essential to both internal reporting mechanisms and external audit obligations.
Oversee and execute primary duties including managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations, coordinating team activities, and maintaining accurate records. Lead and mentor team members to optimize performance, foster a collaborative work environment, and address any operational challenges. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall business growth. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align objectives and ensure seamless communication across the organization.
Ensure all financial transactions are accurately processed, recorded, and aligned with established finance policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with prescribed timelines for day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
Spearhead the establishment and ongoing oversight of internal controls and a robust accounting framework, ensuring alignment with internationally recognized standards and policies.
Review payment vouchers to verify that all supporting documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner before processing payments.
Maintain precise and current records of all financial transactions, encompassing the Financial Management Report, Cash Flow Forecast, and Aged Accounts Receivable, while generating monthly reports by the established deadlines. Additionally, oversee the General Ledger to ensure its accuracy in reflecting business operations.
To uphold the integrity of financial statements, meticulously prepare and review balance sheet and control account reconciliations, verifying that reported balances are both complete and accurate. Additionally, scrutinize the monthly financial closing file to identify and promptly rectify any discrepancies that may arise.
Monitor and evaluate departmental workflows to identify opportunities for process optimization and improved resource utilization, all while upholding stringent accuracy standards.
Examine and validate the consolidated data for precision and alignment with the original sources, enabling the generation of prompt and insightful commentaries.
Identify, assess, and evaluate opportunities for operational enhancement. Collaborate in pinpointing financial risks and vulnerabilities associated with the organization’s financial processes and systems.
Provide guidance to personnel on the management of unusual reporting transactions and address questions pertaining to financial statements.
Conduct thorough evaluations of financial reconciliations such as bank accounts, petty cash transactions, accruals, prepayments, group accounts, and external facility agreements to ensure accuracy and alignment with established standards.
Review and validate supplier payables to ensure payments are accurate and fully supported by appropriately authorized source documentation.
