Reporting directly to the Head of Employee Relations, Performance & Wellness, this position plays a key role in developing and implementing people strategies that foster a workplace characterized by fairness, inclusivity, and engagement.

This role encompasses fostering positive employee relations, upholding legal compliance, managing performance, and cultivating a values-driven organizational culture.

Overseeing primary duties in alignment with organizational objectives, this role encompasses a range of critical functions integral to operational success. The position demands meticulous attention to detail while executing tasks with precision and efficiency. Collaborating across departments, the individual will facilitate seamless workflows, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Additionally, the role requires adherence to established protocols, fostering a culture of compliance and accountability. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities will be essential in addressing challenges and driving continuous improvement.

Employee Relations: You will handle all aspects of employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives. Your responsibilities will involve conducting thorough investigations into employee complaints, mediating disputes between staff members, and providing guidance to managers on effective people management practices. Additionally, you will develop and implement strategies to enhance workplace culture, foster a positive work environment, and ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies. An understanding of labor relations, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential for this role.

Facilitate the creation, analysis, and dissemination of HR policies in accordance with Kenyan Labour Laws, applicable regulatory obligations, and the Bank’s guiding principles and governance frameworks.

Oversee employee relations matters such as disciplinary actions, grievance resolutions, workplace conduct concerns, and appeal processes, with a focus on ensuring fairness, consistency, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards.

Maintain precise and verifiable records of employee relations cases, partnering with HR Business Partners and line management while adhering to established record-keeping and compliance standards.

Facilitate organizational transformation efforts—such as restructurings and branch realignments—while maintaining high levels of employee engagement, ensuring seamless operational continuity, and upholding strict regulatory compliance.

Offer expert counsel to managers, ensuring equitable, uniform, and regulation-compliant management of employee issues while mitigating operational and reputational risks in a timely manner.

Serve as a panel member during disciplinary hearings, guaranteeing compliance with due process, procedural equity, and accurate documentation in accordance with established internal policies and relevant labor laws.

Foster transparent communication, trust, and collaboration with employee representatives and workplace committees to cultivate and maintain a positive and compliant work environment.

Maintain disciplined records in a current and confidential status by adeptly managing the ER tracker, which ensures information is readily available for audit purposes and informed decision-making.

Assist in the regular assessment and revision of the HR Manual to maintain continuous compliance with employment laws, regulatory standards, and emerging trends in the banking industry.

Oversee and facilitate the ongoing evaluation and enhancement of employee performance to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and standards. Implement structured performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and establish clear performance metrics to foster continuous improvement. Collaborate with department leaders to identify skill gaps, recommend development initiatives, and support career progression. Track performance trends, analyze data to assess workforce productivity, and address underperformance through targeted interventions. Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements while maintaining transparent and fair performance management processes.

Oversee the planning and dissemination of performance review schedules and related communications.

Assist employees and managers throughout the performance management process, ensuring clarity and support at every stage.

Monitor performance development and verify that evaluations are conducted punctually.

Maintain precise performance data and develop comprehensive performance reports.

Facilitate the establishment of objectives, gather performance insights, and coordinate the logistical aspects of review processes.

Maintain strict adherence to HR policies while safeguarding all confidential information.

Employee Wellness initiatives are designed to foster a healthier, more engaged workforce by promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being. These programs encompass activities such as fitness challenges, stress management workshops, mental health resources, and ergonomic assessments to support overall employee health. Additionally, they may include access to wellness coaching, nutritional guidance, and flexible work arrangements to accommodate diverse personal needs. The goal is to enhance productivity, reduce absenteeism, and cultivate a positive work environment where employees feel valued and supported in their holistic well-being.

The role involves assisting with the implementation of the Bank’s Employee Wellness Program, guaranteeing seamless coordination of wellness initiatives in accordance with the approved Wellness Calendar. This encompasses collaborating with accredited wellness service providers, organizing activities, fostering participation, and maintaining prompt and professional communication with staff.

Support strategic inclusion and employee engagement initiatives, such as diversity forums and employee resource groups, by managing logistics, communications, and feedback mechanisms to strengthen program effectiveness and drive meaningful impact.

Assist in organizing and implementing employee engagement initiatives, including end-of-year events and various engagement forums, to foster collaboration, alignment, and a strong organizational culture.

Collaborate on the development and execution of employee recognition programs across the organization and individual departments, incorporating formal awards and peer-driven recognition efforts to cultivate a high-performance environment.

Develop and distribute compelling communication materials related to employee wellness programs, policy updates, and engagement initiatives, ensuring strict adherence to internal communication guidelines.

Drive tangible results that align with the Bank’s HR strategy, balanced scorecard, and individual performance targets, fostering measurable impact while maintaining high standards of accountability.

Academic qualifications required include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as education, curriculum development, or a specialized subject area. Candidates must possess a valid teaching certification or equivalent credential from an accredited institution. A master’s degree in education or a closely related discipline is strongly preferred. Additionally, familiarity with educational standards, assessment methodologies, and pedagogical best practices is essential.

A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a closely related field is required.
